Halloween '97 soundcheck (full)
Halloween '97 soundcheck (full)
this is something i'm sure we've all seen a bit of before, but i've never seen the whole thing posted in one place. it's 52 minutes long. this has always been, to me, one of the best shows i've ever seen them play...at least as far as simply watching on the internet is concerned. this is the soundcheck, yet they almost do it as though it were the show itself...especially dave. i've been in bands for many years and this has the feel of people honestly loving what they are doing...you just can't hide it at any time. i love it.

eric shoulda sucked it up and done this tour. He'd look back on it proudly today.
Re: Halloween '97 soundcheck (full)
Really cool. The rare Up The Beach with Flea.
Re: Halloween '97 soundcheck (full)
Very cool indeed. Weren't Perry and Dave back on heroin at this time?
Re: Halloween '97 soundcheck (full)
Dave's also standing stage left. Normally he's right?
Re: Halloween '97 soundcheck (full)
If I remember correctly, he took left in the Relapse tour.Bandit72 wrote:Dave's also standing stage left. Normally he's right?

yeah, I've wondered a lot whether that's why Dave never played better than hereBandit72 wrote:Very cool indeed. Weren't Perry and Dave back on heroin at this time?

very nice indeed
Re: Halloween '97 soundcheck (full)
No, I am 100% sure Perry would have ruined it for him then, too.Noonesshocking wrote:eric shoulda sucked it up and done this tour. He'd look back on it proudly today.

iirc Dave got himself back using during the course of that tour, so wouldn't have been a factor for Avery deciding not to join. Dunno about Perry.
Dave answered the stage position thing a few years ago, can't remember where - basically for relapse he and Flea instinctively went to the stage positions they were used to in the Chillis, and then Dave stayed there through the Martyn / Chaney Strays period, without any particular thought process going into it - then when they all reunited with Avery it was similarly just an unsaid, instinctive thing to go and stand where they had been 86-91.

At the end of that video, they soundcheck ANR and perry is using the mic stand instead of just hold the wireless mic. It looks fucking cool like 1.0
