Hits Daily Double is a big site, they always have album sales up before anybody.

What hurt the sales was most people on itunes were buying the deluxe double cd (with the live show).. these sales are not included when the final sales figures are released. The two are treated as seperate albums...

It shows up on the itunes chart as two seperate albums.... billboard treats them as two sperate releases...and I'm sure about that...

I'm not sure what's been done nationbally, but here in LA there were ample billboards up for GEA all over town.

What hurt the sales was people like me who downloaded it and don't think it's worth spending 10 bucks on.

Guilty as charged.

To be fair though, I only buy CDs from local bands these days since they aren't able to be stolen.

Hits Daily Double counts them as one, the sales you saw there is the amount is sold first week. Billboard and iTunes treat it differently.

i am going to venture to say that nothings shocking is the kind of record people will gravitate back to .. much like people still buy dark side of the moon and many other records .. no they don't top the charts .. but they sell way way more records than those who do top the charts .. in fact its fair to say the only realistic expectation to come from the current janes tour is that it will increase sales of their back catalog .. i cant see any long time janes fan hearing perry mumble along with an out of sync backing track being impressed with the new material ... and i dont see it having the comercial appeal to draw new fans .. if people want coldplay people buy cold play .. not janes addiction .. the fact is that even today .. nothings shocking will outsell escape artist in the long run. certainly not in a weeks worth of sales .. but maybe if u start now and go the next 5 years .. i think ns will do better

i don't think nothing's shocking hit it's stride until the tour of fall '88 and really burst out in '89.

it's a good point, but i don't think this one is gonna follow a similar trajectory.

yep thats the peak week of sales by a mile all downhill from there...now we wait 10 years for janes to make a record that sounds like some band in the 70's ( every 10 years they go back a decade strays was 90's...tgea was 80's)

This could be good though what if they just rip off Raw Power?
