Listen to how Perry sings the beginning of Aint No Right — that’s the best I’ve heard him sing that part in decades

New interview

No question as to how much they are enjoying Josh and what he's brought to the band.

The comparison between "listeners" and "drowners" is also interesting.
Echoing the thanks for this - the tone of conversation and body language is really interesting. Perry, particularly, I think - for the longest time, I have felt like he's always selling something in his interviews. Trying to push how great that latest whatever it. The way he's talking about the band and what they are doing doesn't feel like that to me here. It comes across as sincere and real, rather than automatic..rather than BS.

Agreed. My guard is still up about new music though because musicians/artists always think their latest material is their best. Or at least they always talk about it as though it is...

Eric looking and sounding proud is a better indicator to me because I trust that he "gets" what made Jane's 1.0 so good and that he'll be attempting to channel that into new music.

"Perry, increase the echo".

Wow that No One's Leaving is great! Janes actually sounds like a real band again. Thank you Eric and JK.

I love Josh jumping up and down at the beginning of Mt. Song. You see Perry feed off of it. He brings an energy to the band that was sorely missing.

They get better with every show they play- I guess they aren’t going to add another new song in the set which is a bummer

That show might be the best they’ve sounded yet.

That No Ones leaving was awesome.

Encouraging that Perry says Dave is “doing good”
Maybe DN really is in rehab now. His Instagram has been quiet but I did notice a new post from Vanessa DuBasso from yesterday and it's photos of her and her cat only. Usually her posts have Dave in them too. I suppose he could be the one taking the photos but I am choosing to believe Dave's in rehab getting better and someone else took those pics.

Not to be crass, but I only clicked on it to see whether she's still wearing the ring. That didn't take long to establish.

Also a pretty generic journal, which is common in life and in recovery

They finally uploaded the Argentina pro-shot concert. It's the best sounding one (both soundwise and energy from the band):

Damn. Perry sounds amazing here. Better even than the previous S. American show.

RE: Eric drinking on stage? It's none of my business, but I'd be surprised if he was--maybe it was hop water (which I enjoy, BTW). And as for his weight, the man just looks strong and healthy--not sucked up, and not 20-something. I would go see them perform if they come up to the PNW again.

Oh, and that pit in Chile is kind of pathetic. :oldtimer:

The kick drums and the bass sounded HUGE there. I was afraid of the sound, being an outdoor festival with some wind. But it was amazing.

Still surprised they haven’t played imminent redemption

I guess they didn’t like the audience response to True Love? Maybe these songs aren’t wholly complete with guitar yet

And didnt they specifically say they’d be debuting that in South America? It’s strange. It makes you wonder if it’s related to Dave somehow. Hopefully he’s recovering and asked them to wait on the new material. Probably wishful thinking.

Pretty much in every interview Perry said they would play it. I would hope that’s the case- it’s been 30 something years at this point. It’s about time the original lineup is recording together

I had the same thought/hope.

When Perry said Dave is doing good. I was like…hmmmm maybe he asked they stop playing new songs for a reason.

Those interviews were done during the Arizona or Vegas shows…and I know True Love was dropped after 2-3 performances.

Let’s hope that’s the case, and how great these performances have been will light a much needed fire under Dave’s ass.

While I remain optimistic that Dave is doing what he can to get better, I sincerely doubt he's sitting around watching YouTube clips of his band moving forward without him.

He's probably already bummed about it enough.

I sincerely doubt he’s not. I also sincerely doubt he’s ignorant to what we’re saying.

I think at a certain point last fall the band just shrugged their shoulders and kept moving forward. I don’t think they were about to get on their knees and beg for Dave to play with them after they left the door open

I also feel like Eric doesn’t care and is more than happy to have Josh playing with them too

Speculation, but looking back now, it probably went down like this, right?...
Jane's plays a show with Foo Fighters. Dave relapses with Taylor and Taylor dies.
A few months go by and Jane's wants to start up again with Eric, but turns out Dave is still using and that's a nonstarter for the band at this point.
They give Dave some time to try to get clean but he keeps using.
Dave finally goes to rehab as Jane's are back rolling with replacement guitar.
...
Dave gets clean and rejoins Jane's?

I still don't think he has any interest in playing with Jane's again. He would rather spray paint walls.

I can see him doing it for the money but that's about it. If he is using and is in rehab he could probably use the paycheck though. :noclue:
