So a Porno for Pyros tour could draw a different audience if packaged right. Plus, latter-day Pornos is a better fit for Perry, since he no longer has the anger or energy to sell an "Ain't No Right" (the man on stage is not the same one who cut himself and said so what).

I somewhat agree but I fear "packaged right" would equal Jane's touring with fake AIC. Porno For Pyros with Blind Melon summer 2014. I wish he stuck with P4P and kept the GGU vibe instead of Jane's 2.0. I think he's just "in it" now....the life, the tours...etc. it's not about art. Maybe Jane's will be the money and this will be fun times with an old buddy.

I am happy it's an old already written tune and not a newly written tune .. PFP was still prime Perry era and even an out take like Agua has more charm than anything on the last 2 Jane's records.

This is an old, old P4P track written during the GGU era.

You can hear that Agua was written back when Perry still wrote cool vocal melodies. It sounds nothing like what he's been putting out since 2002.

It's not a classic but, had it been released in '96, I think we'd all like it as much as Cook the Rice, Bali Eyes, Kimberley Austin etc.

The fear is that 2013 perry will add some cringey lyrics, change the melody, sing in a crooner style and try to modernise the production. Let's hope Pete has some influence, assuming that Pete has decent taste. I've no idea.

I'm just wondering why they haven't recorded a new song.

I heard Agua at Lollapalooza back in 2005. It wasn't very good.

How damn long does it take for a professional musician to write and record one new song? Surely not 8 years.

Just remember, Jane's hinted at recording a new album in '97. Strays didn't come out until 2003 (six years later). That same year, they talked about recording a followup album...another eight years pass and then we get TGEA.

Any normal artist releases albums on a relatively consistent basis. Even bands like U2 and Metallica (who are known for huge gaps between albums) put out more music than Perry does. The difference is, when those groups put out music, people actually care. They can afford to release music sporadically because when they tour, they can easily play arenas and stadiums (on multiple nights) as if they were never gone. Perry rarely releases music while constantly struggling to remain relevant (Google "viral video").

Pete feels like he owes Perry. He has said that on multiple occasions. He feels gratitude for him.

You know when you're in a shitty relationship and the other person can basically do anything with you and/or convince you of anything? Have you ever been a victim of a manipulative person?
