What's weird is that growing up my family always called them thongs, but I was raised here in the U.S. (Olympia, Washington). All of my friends always made fun of me for calling them thongs, so eventually I just started calling them flip flops in college (especially since people were really getting them confused with the more common ass thong.

growing up in northern california they were always thongs until about 20yrs ago. i think that was before the invention of the thong bikini.

fyi...if you still live in washington it's called soda...not pop. that one bothers me.

I live in Seattle now. Always called it POP :lol: I very rarely call it soda. Nowadays I just call it high-fructose cancer syrup. :jasper:
