Janes NS show LA 9/20

This band is a faint echo of its former self. They should record an album with both Dave and Peter D, kick Perry's wife (and all other non-musicians) off the stage, and pepper the setlist with some Porno songs (reworked for 2 guitars). Then maybe I'll check out another one of their shows.

Perry should just give up on Jane's and focus on making Etty a TV star.

I'd love to see her on a show where she just travels to 5 star hotels around the world and documents how poorly they treat her.

It would be a goldmine of entertainment.

I noticed a couple bottles in the store room at the club... I asked our bar manager and he said that corporate forced a couple bottles on him "I'm not putting that stuff out - nobody asks for it!"

I tried it when I was still drinking a few years ago. It was okay. Nothing special. More of a tequila you'd mix in drinks than sip.

Tangentially related, the House of Blues Sunset is slated for demolition in favor of mixed-use condos, hotel, and retail, according to the linked article in the LA Times. The venue will host this year's Sunset Music Festival awards, honoring Jane's. The building will be gone in about two years.

Wow, that was news to me. Same about The Key Club shutting down last year, although I've only been there twice. I guess there's just not enough demand for club-size live music to keep all the old rock clubs in Hollywood afloat. Even larger places like The Hollywood Palladium seem to only host 2 or 3 shows per month these days.

Regarding the Hollywood HOB, frankly I'm not sorry to see that place go despite the fact I've seen some great shows there (The Cramps, Killing Joke, etc) and some pretty big bands like Eric Clapton and ZZ Top. The sound system has always sucked and the staff have always been cocksuckers. Much rather see The Roxy and The Whiskey stick around.

I've been budgeting the project for the last two months. We're in tight with the GC and I'd say there's a 90% chance I'll get the project.

One positive is that it won't be in the middle of a tour, which means Perry's voice won't be tired and might make it through 4 and a half songs instead of 2 and a half.

I hate being negative about the group, but at this point it might juts b better to listen to the cd's and leave it at that. Seeing NS straight through is tempting, but will it really be NS the way it is in my mind?
