I'm not even sure anyone would want to revisit TGEA, except maybe EA. He may find something shiny there to hold his attention. Considering where all this started with EA and PF doing the lion's share of writing I am interested wat they came up with when they got together. As good as DN is at colorizing a song, I have never thought much of his songwriting ability. And I think much of his brilliance on NS and RDLH was attributable to innocence, naiveté, and the wellspring of great stuff that comes from no ego nor expectation. And just a a pure power chord homer, I wouldn't mind a couple from Strays as long as it's not titled Just Because.

This pic made me laugh. EA still won't put his arm around Etty.

This was from last night's show.

I suspect Eric liked at least some of what he heard on TGEA and that it surpassed his expectations (i.e. it wasn’t I like em’ big). It also wouldn’t surprise me if he wrote some of it and wasn’t credited. I came across an interview where someone flat out asked him and he side stepped the question.

I’m also excited for Dave to add his parts to the new songs because he is an amazing reactor to existing parts in general. In the original band context I think it’s really going to bring out the best in him

re: Jane Says

Is this the first time ever on tour that they haven't had the steel drums? I feel sorry for Stephen :conf:

However, I do enjoy the guitar aromatics from Troy on this one...

I'm seeing them in Montreal; like others have mentioned; I hope Perry's voice holds up...

Yeah. Altough I like it, I put Just Because to show that is "doable" to arrange a 15-song setlist mixing some tunes for the hardcore fans + the hits + new songs.

Has Jane’s had 15 songs on a setlist since 1988? :balls:

Seriously, some weird shit must’ve gone down in the Jane’s camp. To me, it looks like he’s left the band. But then, if that’s the case, why not say so. The whole fucking thing continues to be weird all around. :noclue:

I have no dog in this fight re: Troy vs DN. I'm simply an old fart who once adored Jane's Addiction. I also played guitar in a few indie-alt bands, always trying to emulate Kevin Shields from MBV. To my ears, Troy brings an adventuresome spirit to Jane's that I haven't heard in a long, long time. His use of effects reminds me of what DN did (or perhaps it was a producer) on Summertime Rolls. Me? I'd like to hear new songs with Troy over Dave.

Maybe Dave is done with the touring life. Who knows. Hopefully he returns for some Summer 23 shows.

Jane's is now confirmed for Lollapalooza Argentina, Chile and Brasil in March 2023.

The Dave stuff continues to be super weird.

I have a new conspiracy theory. There seems to be some distance between Perry and the Foo Fighters camps. And I wonder if Dave is actually. in Food Fighters camp as well. Like does he blame a Perry in some way for Hawkins death?

At this point, I won’t be surprised if the new music does happen — it has a Troy on it.

I get that people may rather hear Troy over Dave in Jane’s; I can appreciate it, but I’m not one of those people. Without Dave (or the other three), it’s just not Jane’s; change the name or something.

Dave is lazy. And a temperamental diva. Understandably so. But he's our dave. This is not Jane's 1.0 This crisis is welcome considering EA back and all the love being spread.

Ok. Seeing EA do Jane Says almost brought me to tears. Ok, I cried. Steel drums are a hard miss there. I love Jerden and what he did with NS, but his argument with Perk on the drums was insane

Peter commented on that post with prayer hands. It's hard to imagine Pete isn't aware of Dave's exact scenario. Maybe he's feeling a little better but not ready for a full on tour.

I'm confused as fuck....honestly...does nobody believe he has long COVID?

I have friends with it a year later....they still don't feel right tour is a drag...wtf would you wanna tour if you are starting out feeling like shit?

I'm sure he can hold and play the guitar for the hour....it's the other 23 that are the problem right now..."come on Dave, you feel like shit? get in your bunk" fuck that

I’m personally glad that he’s looking healthier and is taking time in nature with his beloved. That’s all restorative stuff and a positive indicator for him being able to rejoin the band in the not-so-distant future. That’s my hope, anyway. If he doesn’t, I still wish our primadonna health and happiness.

Would be nice to have some legit 1.0 action before it’s over.

I guess we haven't had anyone go to the past few shows? Set list looks unchanged. They did ask on Instagram what songs people would like to hear, so hopefully they'll mix it up a little.
