This is a great fucking song. Listening to it today just made me realize how much I have been blinded by expecting a direct continuation of Ritual from them. For years I've been obsessed with wanting to hear the 1991 follow up album that never came to be. Finally somehow leaving this idea behind let's me enjoy what they did with this beautiful little record.

I didn't they were strong lyrics...but seeing them on this page right now makes me think possibly think different about them.

My interpretation is the narrator is saying sometimes he got lucky, meaning scored drugs and got nailed too, meaning he got laid. But it can also be reversed, saying sometimes he got got lucky, meaning he laid...and got nailed too, meaning he scored heroin. I can see getting lucky and getting nailed as euphemisms for both having sex and shooting up. Anyway, that's my take.

That was my initial take on the lyric. It's all interpretation.

As they should...the footage is from 1989. At least two of the subjects in the video/doc are long dead.
