Trent Reznor Announces the Return of Nine Inch Nails: Extensive Touring for 2013 and 2014
"The band is reinventing itself from scratch"
It's been four years since Nine Inch Nails' "Wave Goodbye" tour heralded the end of an era for Trent Reznor's pioneering project. But since that time, Reznor has maintained that NIN wasn't over forever, just changing focus.
Now, Reznor has announced that Nine Inch Nails will return to action in a big way in 2013. Tours are planned for this summer and fall, all the way into next year. The lineup will include Reznor, Eric Avery of Jane's Addiction, Adrian Belew of King Crimson, and Josh Eustis of Telefon Tel Aviv, as well as previous NIN collaborators Alessandro Cortini and Ilan Rubin.

Nine Inch Nails are touring this year.
I was working with Adrian Belew on some musical ideas, which led to some discussion on performing, which led to some beard-scratching, which (many steps later) led to the decision to re-think the idea of what Nine Inch Nails could be, and the idea of playing a show. Calls were made to some friends, lots of new ideas were discussed, and a show was booked - which led to another, which somehow led to a lot of shows.
The band is reinventing itself from scratch and will be comprised of Eric Avery, Adrian Belew, Alessandro Cortini, Josh Eustis, Ilan Rubin, and me. The first shows will begin this summer, followed by a full-on arena tour of the US this fall, and lots of other dates worldwide to follow through 2014.

I thought this could be the case when Trent decided to tour NIN again. Funny to think that NINJA was the seed. I will definitely be going

Just heard the news. Good for Eric. Good for Trent. Belew fuck me, that will be rad. Someone should call David and ask him if he'll go see his favorite band with his old bassist. Can't help but think there was some magic the Jane's dudes missed out on with those sessions with Trent. Seems like Eric and Trent were on the same page all along.

That is super cool! I'll be seeing Jane's with Chaney and NIN with Eric this summer! No complaints here. Just good old music.

I've never really cared for NIN.
If Eric is involved and they come to Chile, I'll be there. It's great to know he'll be playing with friends and a band he digs.

A few months from now, Eric will be playing with NIN. Lots of excitement in the music world for their live return.
A few months from now, janes addiction will be playing a shitty festival slot - with train.

Hopefully it's a more of an organic sounding band. I really don't care much for Avery's solos stuff. I do like NIN and loved seeing them on Ninja. We'll see. This summer could see NIN touring, and a Jane's Pumpkins or Jane/Soundgardentour (my new prediction!)

I don't think it's killing Dave. In Janes Addiction Dave gets to be kind of the 2nd Front Man up there. Janes Fans (and the chicks) Love watching Dave. Dave wouldn't be able to have that role in NIN.

yea your right, working with Trent, a musician he long admires and a band he's a "fan girl" for vs being in a nostalgia act.

I guess this puts the argument to rest over who the problem was when Jane's was in Trent's studio.
We knew that Eric was fighting with Perry over the direction of the band's music. Clearly Trent feels Eric was the one making the better suggestions.

I almost had a epileptic seizure from the strobe lights during NIN's set! And I'm not epileptic!
