i think i did. i was just frustrated with the direction of the negativity. when i tried to step in, as i have done before, some of the main regulars, kv and hoka, didn't want to listen. they instead tried to make excuses for such outright negative behavior.

i felt like the site was at a point where people like kv and hoka should be the ones stepping in and trying to cool shit down. ES tried, but of course was made into some kind of parental figure. jasper his obvious angry teenager.

either way, i felt like i no longer had control over the direction. it's hard for me to take any harsh actions without being labeled unstable or drama queen.

i guess i just take it serious and some never did. so i kicked around the idea of shutting it down for 7 days. i did actually close the bored for 2 hrs before realizing it was only gonna lead to more drama. so i reopened the site, without anyone seeming to notice. i stayed away for a few days and when i came back, hoka had his post about cooling it, but it just didn't seem to have any impact.

so of course i start to question why i am doing this. i don't like the 2 new songs from JA. there isn't much going on and i've long ago abandoned putting up more in depth content.

as i explained previously i deleted everything so i couldn't change my mind as i have done in the past. that was more for me, than some "bitter" thing that some want to label it.

so yeah, when you and hoka reach that point, and it'll come quick, send me an email or PM. it's a love fest now and that's great, i'm surprised there are no creep/hoka appreciation threads, but it's fleeting. the mob will turn on ya quick, when you start to actually care about this place.

I know this is off topic on the EA interviews but it sort of is on topic.

It's obvious you did it with a Mac, and last I saw you were getting a Macbook Air.

I just recently upgraded for my bday got another 11 but with the i5 and 4GB DDR3 and since I had an external 500gb hard drive I just went with the 128 GB HDD. I'm loving this new one more so than the old one and glad I updgraded. It's doing everything my bigger laptops could do and more. Plus I got to give the old one to the g/f so she has a light and portable laptop now as well.

is that a shot at me? i just don't understand your bitterness. this place would have never happened if you didn't quit. everyone was happy where they were. honestly...time to let it go.
Sonny's acting like a 14 year old. It's the internet Sonny, how old are you, like 40? Just be happy with whatever you've got going on in the real world rather than trying to hold on to the past glory of owning a board that spent over 70 pages dissecting the tweets of Etty Farrell.
this is an excellent example of what i was talking about when i said, everything gets attached to my name. deconstruction, the person who thinks Etty might be a tranny, has attributed the etty farrell tweets thread to me and my site. not creep, who started it and continued it. and not anyone else, it's sonny's glory.

14 year old indeed.

xiola.org was a good thing and it was appreciated by many, not because of the childish threads like the one mentioned. it's unfortunate that the end of the site has lead to a clouded history of the site.
But why do you care if it's associated with you? If somebody referred to my site GrungeReport as "Brett's site where everybody shits on each other in the comments" I wouldn't care. Or "Brett's site where everyone shits on Courtney Love in the comments." I'd laugh. Does it really effect your every day life? This is the internet, and your board covered one band.

Also I'm obviously ballbusting by bringing up a thread like that (not a "clouded vision" of the site, many people in here have brought up the really great stuff like the Avery interview), like you are conveniently bring up hoka selling his site in the past. Should hoka's site solely be remembered for that move he made like you have summed it up to be? This is all internet message board seriously, don't take it so seriously. We all appreciated Xiola, but it's time for you to move on from it since you decided to close it. I really hope you keep posting here because outside of the Xiola closing fiasco I've always enjoyed your posts, but let's all focus on the future now rather than bickering about the past, ya know?

Whoa, really? You can't actually be concerned about a perceived shot at you right?
:hs: not sure what you are getting at but to answer your question...i'm really not concerned at all. :noclue:

yeah, i have the 1.4 core 2 duo model w/64gb and it's great. i love it. this is the future of laptops really. ssd hard drives, no optical. it's a good example of using the whole of the computer to make it fast, rather than just putting in a fast cpu. hard drives have been the bottle neck on computers for years. with the ssd's it should catch them up.

as i said before, that's how you would do it. you don't care because it's not "brett's site". but xiola.org was very much sonny. and i got the blame often for what went on at my site. dave and etty both felt i could influence people's opinions on the site and i did try to steer us away from being an all out troll site.

i really don't think you were there long enough to be a good judge of what the site represented and didn't.

whether you are "ball busting" or not, it rings true. sonny = xiola.org, in many people's minds, whether you are able to grasp it or not.

now, should that matter? no, not really. and it doesn't for the most part. but the other part such "is etty a tranny" i don't want my name attached to. i don't mind legitimate criticism or even light funny comments, but many were taking it too far and all of that gets assigned to me out of convenience.

it's not just those guys in the bands, it the surrounding cast, it's the friends of those band members. xiola.org was tipping from a credible site into just a bunch of negativity.

and i agreed that it was headed that way.

my comment about hoka selling to a porn king, was legitimate, because i was talking about the suddenness at which he quit. i was making a point that what i had done was new. erik had done twice or more and hoka did it at least once.

yr comment was just a snide remark meant to jab at me. i used it to show an example of what i was trying to say.

as for my daily life, it does affect me. don't judge me based on what you think i should be doing. i put a lot of work into xiola.org and it meant a lot to me. i made some decent friends through that site, as well as some contacts with people i onetime as a teen wanted to be. so yeah, it affects me.

maybe you don't care as much about yr site. maybe it's more of a job for you. xiola.org was a hobby and a passion of mine. it's serious stuff at times. the internet just like real life can be serious, it can be emotional, it can be fun and it can be sad. the people who separate the two are the ones who aren't being honest with themselves.

i don't turn on a "i dont' care switch" when i go online. i'm the same online as i am if you were to meet me in real life. no faking it here.

for me

some divers whistle was psi com

xiola was janes

aint no right is pfp

lets not have a strays reunion with xiola ..

its not easy to be the bearer of pure truth, negative or positive .. perry sure doesnt try anymore .. but its still far more credible than selling out and censoring people and crap like that .. too bad if janes does not like honest feedback .. its all marketing to them now and has nothing to do with the fans .. xiola had power and janes was intimidated by that .. but it was all marketing .. wanting positive sites to be the draw .. nothing to do with respect for fans or opinions .. perry has called plenty of people out in very very very rude ways .. so wtf .. why dog the fans just because they are honest and a bit rude like perry has always been .. thats just fucking stupid .. clearly perry got to xiola and now he got his wish .. its shut down .. too bad for him, the new music still sucks and there is still a place to strait up say it .. perry can write some good lyrics and take him self seriously if he doesn't want to be dogged in public .. otherwise he's just getting his due

I've been of the "that's too bad but let's move on" mind, so come on. The site was negative for a looooong time, and it was less negative than it had been a year or two prior. I don't see what was more negative about it, I really don't, but I don't want that to sound like a question, because I don't want to extend this thread, (unless it's about the interview). So, let's not pretend that you, sonny, didn't say your share of nasty negative personal shit about Etty and such. You did. You said some pretty unpleasant stuff about other people as well, like on Dave's last birthday where you used the "happy birthday Dave" thread to tell him what a fake, loser, piece of shit he is.

Now can we stop talking about this and move on? Sonny ran a site for a long time and it was good. I'm grateful for it. He killed it without notice and we still haven't found a lot of people like ben or Lokus, but here we are at a nice new site, and it's 100% great with me (aside from the missing people, which could have easily been avoided). Predicting the site failing based on some stuff in the distant past doesn't make sense, even more so since there are two people involved. These are different times and people are older and hopefully wiser and calmer. So, I'm just gonna relax and enjoy the site.

we just have different standards of what is negativity and which is why i say running a forum is an art, not a science. there's no set of rules, it's just me. i set the lines that shouldn't be crossed, i decided what is too negative.

me and dave had a history and i was expressing myself about his change of mind on xiola.org.

the main negativity i had with etty was always started by etty. i only responded. i never judged her on her raising her kids, i actually defended her. i never jumped in on the other petty shit.

i was negative at times i admitted as much, but there has to be a line somewhere and when i say it's enough i would expect people to listen, they didn't.

some, yrself and six7six7 mainly, are always negative, always contrary. it becomes background noise that i ignore mostly. it was only when kv and hoka started to side with that bunch. then i started to worry.

you can't start a paragraph with "now can we stop?" that is ridiculous.

unless of course you don't include yrself in the "we" statement.

Are you kidding? Does anybody want to back sonny up on that quote up there? Even someone who doesn't like me. Honestly, does a single former xiola regular think that quote, just as it's written, is accurate?

Jasper--your posts don't stand out in my mind one way or another. Six7Six7 is just a lot of background noise that I do my best to ignore. As I was discussing with Romeo in Brooklyn a few weeks ago if there was a way to filter and just not see anything a particular poster posted I would do that for Six7Six7. Nothing personal, but I do think his posts are shit-stirring and unfunny.
