another soulmate-listen here

#1 Post by creep » Mon Aug 05, 2013 9:26 pm

since we have two threads going i figured this can be the one to comment on the song.

i put it up here but disabled downloads so go buy it if you like it.

i hate the beginning and the end. it's not horrible though.

Perry really needs to get over this electronica thing. He's not very good at it. I swear this is the same exact sample I have heard on every single shitty radio rock song in the last 10 years.

Listen to the first 10 seconds of this song if you don't believe me:

Also, what's with the production on this? my ears hurt from this constant loudness bullshit.

Dave's playing was the only redeemable part of the song. Perk is playing the same groove he's been playing since Strays and Chaney is totally not even a factor here. The song is kind of catchy, but Perry sounds old.

The song needed a few more verses and longer solo action from Dave. And to not be so damn radio produced. It sounds like every band I hate.

It's Superhero for 2013!

Perry: Hey, remember that really big hit we had? Let's write another one like that!
Dave: Been Caught Stealin?
Perry: No, the newer one.
Dave: Irresistible Force?
Perry: No, the one from the TV show
Perk: I can't make it. Just use that drum beat I recorded for all the other songs
Perry: Cool, i'll use that electronic sample every band on the radio uses
Dave: I'll record a riff in between sips of coffee while i shoot Ink Master
Chaney: *Asleep in a chair, fingers accidentally slide down the strings while they are recording*

Seriously, that shit is 2 and a half minutes long not because it was done "punk style", but because each member only actually was willing to half ass it.

Superhero sounds like Stairway to Heaven in comparison to this.

This is about or at least inspired by one of Etty's friends? LOL, I bet this will put a damper on Etty's social life. I can't imagine too many people wanting to be pals with someone who's husband might write a insultingly derogatory tune about them.

The tune itself is pretty mediocre. I'd never guess it was a Jane's tune, the only recognizable element is the short solo bit by Dave near the end. Otherwise I would have guessed it was a Satellite Party track.

I seriously can't believe Dave allowed this to be released. While The Great Escape Artist was far from great due to some of Perry's shit lyrics/melodies, Dave had some really interesting chord progressions on the album and nothing instrumentally sounded embarrassing. This song sounds like Dave has given up the fight.

Dave probably cares more about hanging from hooks in his skin than he does about guitar playing these days.

Janes is just a cash cow now. It keeps the lights turned on. It has nothing to do with art.

The guitar sounds like something the Edge would do. Or has done a 1000 times.

As I think I stated somewhere else, it sounds like an even shitter "Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me."

Agreed.
I listened to Strays yesterday and liked it way more than this. The absolute shit is the beginning. :banghead:

Where's the Zep style that Perry mentioned...I can't stand this electronic shit that Perry has been doing to all his songs lately. It has that Whole Lotta Love/Rev kind of production. But Rev and Whole Lotta Love were actually good. This song would actually sound pretty good if it had an Aint No RIght/No Ones leaving production to it. This is the big release on the eve of the tour!

Those synths where the guitar should be sound like Down In It by Nine Inch Nails.

Amazing that they've put out a single with absolutely 0 promotion push besides a radio play from one of Dave's buddies. Not even a post on facebook or twitter. Lazy :noclue:

She's so hot she makes me shoot my shot. Ugh. The beginning sounds like every awful mid to late 90's rock song. It's sad, the chorus is a little catchy but those lyrics are 5th grade
