Pete
Pete
Since a lot of us appear to be in agreement that Pete should be playing in JA in the other thread. What do you think it would sound like?
I honestly think it would sound a mix between p4p and GGU but I would also want Pete to play some leads and have Dave play some rhythm since I liked a lot of Pete's leads and melody on GGU.
I know this is all theoretical and probably never going to happen but I was just curious. Since Pete and Perry obviously have a song writing creativity together that is not there with Perk/Dave. I just think that they brought the wrong person into the studio with them to help them create.
EDIT: Also has anyone told him that we all moved over to this board after the death of Xiola?

Re: Pete
I think it would sound a bit more like Hardcharger considering that's our only real reference point. Strip away the flutes or whatever and add a layer of sheen to it.
Not sure how many people know this, but Pete wrote the Satellite Party song Dogstar. No surprise it was the best song on the album. It was lyrically weak, but that's not Pete's fault.

Re: Pete
i think it would sound like Jane's Addiction with a rhythm guitar player.
The low end wouldn't drop out every time Dave soloed and it wouldn't sound so thin when he played in the higher range like in Just Because.
Otherwise, same old thing.

Re: Pete
For the existing songs, sure. But as a songwriter Pete would definitely change the dynamic if allowed.Six7Six7 wrote:i think it would sound like Jane's Addiction with a rhythm guitar player.

It is amazing that they don't at least add Pete and a couple Porno songs. It would be amazing if they just merged the bands and catalogues and brought back Watt or Martyn. That would be the next best scenario after getting Eric back.
Re: Pete
I agree and I think the creative energy would be back if they brought in Pete. Sitek was not the person to bring in as it obviously gave them some ideas but no hashed out songs. Pete would definitely give them a creative spark. As I like a good portion of his solo stuff so I figured he would bring that energy back to the music and in the studio there is obviously a chemistry between Perry and Petehokahey wrote:For the existing songs, sure. Re: Pete
Last I heard from Pete he's always happy to work with Perry. He feels eternally obligated to Perry for Perry not turning his back on him when Warners wanted a different guitar player for P4P, and for when Pete was bad with drugs and making it tough on the rest of the band.Larry B. wrote:I seriously doubt that Pete would want a full-time gig with Perry. Re: Pete
Yeah I don't share that I thought TNO sucked where as I like a good number of Pete's solo songs. I'm not include Spread/Rhimorse since that Dave is long gone and everything since those recordings has been overproduced cockrock/nickelback
Re: Pete
You went to see some Pete thing and he did the techno with guitar thing and you didn't enjoy it. It's not representative of his recorded output. Pete solo stomps all over Dave solo. I mean...it's not close. A least listen to Soul Trigger.creep wrote:just the way they sound live it would be a nice change but as far as writing with jane's everything i have heard solo from him doesn't make me think anything would improve. dave solo > pete solo

Re: Pete
I'm gonna listen to some Pete solo on all your recommendations. I'm having a hard time picturing him in JA, though. Part of it is the colossal disappointment of the first P4P album after being so bummed about JA breaking up and waiting eagerly for Perry's next move. Still think Cursed Female is the best JA song not by JA, though. I like GGU just OK, and that's after many years. Lots of meandering on that album, but I do appreciate the vibe and general direction.
I also wonder if Dave could countenance another rooster in the henhouse. He's been THE guitarist for JA since they had a record contract.

Re: Pete
Yes... but playing every once in a while a couple of songs with Perry seems to be quite different from being a permanent member of a band with him...hokahey wrote:Last I heard from Pete he's always happy to work with Perry. Hell, I'd play a couple of songs with him. I wouldn't be IN a band with him. He sucks.

Don't make me get negative on you and your wrong opinion, creep. I'll get so contrary you won't know what hit you.creep wrote:i own soul trigger and gratitude. just my opinion and i stand by it.Jasper wrote:You went to see some Pete thing and he did the techno with guitar thing and you didn't enjoy it. The 'Mister' series of books didn't have a Mr Contrary, but I'm sure you could alter it.
Re: Pete
Why would I want to alter it? You think I can't pull off "Miss"? :crying:Artemis wrote:Hey Jasper, here's an avatar suggestion for you.Jasper wrote:Don't make me get negative on you and your wrong opinion, creep. Re: Pete
I'm sure you can. I just assumed that you'd be more comfortable as a "Mister".Jasper wrote:Why would I want to alter it? I'm thinking of this one for myself:
Re: Pete
Yeah but he also hasn't written anything of substance with JA since they got their new contract with Capitol.CaseyContrarian wrote:I'm gonna listen to some Pete solo on all your recommendations. Re: Pete
I'm not at all for Pete in Jane's. Pete = P4P, Jane's = Jane's. Simple as that. Pete in Jane's will probably mean an excuse to play P4P songs. I don't want Jane's to do that. They should stop milking the past and concentrate on the future if ya ask me.
