Great, a guy who lost the plot interviewing a guy who hasn't done anything interesting musically since his supergroup's first album (of 3)

Don't feel like listening. Does he mention Rage?

Are they stil doing anything?

Are they ever going to do anything again?

My top 3 concerts ever are:

Porno for Pyros - St. Louis 1996

Rage Against the Machine - St. Louis 1997

NIN - Chicago 2000

Rage would easily be in the #1 spot if at the time I saw Porno it wasn't like seeing Jesus for the first time to my 17 year old self.

Saw rage in I think 91 or something, before the first album came out. One of the only bands I've ever seen who completely slayed me without my having heard one note of their music before. I'll always admire them for that. Still didn't top my JA '90 and '91 experiences, though. Never saw Porno. Wanted to catch them with Watt, but I think I was playing a show myself the night where it would've been most convenient.

Rage just played a show in LA about 3 weeks ago. I've heard that they are going back in to the studio in the fall to record a new album...

prob wasn't 91 i don't think they were outa the state yet..but ya i saw them open for pearl jam when pearl jam was still playing small venues...had never heard of them they were incorrectly billed as "rage of the machine" and they ruined my night lol ever been stoked to see a band and then have the unknown, unsigned, opening act smoke the shit outa them? (same with first time i saw queens of the stone age and wanted to leave a few songs in because trail of the dead opened and destroyed) i just remember not caring too much when they were throwing tapes into the crowd...fuck fighting for one...i'll just grab their cd tomorrow...they weren't signed for another year doh!...saw em a few times after that in clubs...was stoked when i heard they were gonna play lolla two on a side stage..only to find out they had been bumped...by newly formed porno....which was cool...funny thing was during that set someone was handing out label promos and there was a rage song on it...so i waited for the album...it came out the day i was to drive to washington state...a 20 hour drive....it stayed in my player...with my stero cranked for for the entire trip lol...nothing better then driving a little front wheel drive car through snow, ice rain, black ice...no chains btw know why? FUCK YOU I WON'T DO WHAT YOU TELL ME!!

I really like RATM (even if I hate their politics) but they seem to draw a really obnoxious, violent element to their shows. At a show in '93-ish, a good friend got the shit beat outta him by some ass who was pushing to get up front. On of their first "reunion" shows outdoors in San Franciso, another buddy got three ribs broken from being crushed so badly against the railing up front. I almost went to the LA show at the Coliseum in July, but blew it off knowing how much "fun" an LA outdoors crowd would be plus I'm burnt on the old stuff, good as it is.

If it's true they're going to record new music, it's about fuckin' time.

I saw Rage at an amphitheatre. We were first row, front and center. There were definitely times, like when everyone was beating on their seats and some folks started trying to rip them out, that I thought it was go time. Zack was encouraging it to some extent.

I have seen those violent elements in a lot of shows I have been to not just RATM. I have been to a lot of punk and hardcore shows. No RATM show would ever be nearly as violent as say when I have seen Slayer or Pantera in the past. Hell even Down's crowd was rowdier and I have seen a couple of the reunion shows and saw them back in '97. The Last time I saw the Bad Brains I saw a skinhead hit a girl trying to get upfront, then I saw said skin head get pummeled by 10-12 people.

I will agree though about the "fun" LA crowds can have. Some of them just go overboard for no reason.
