I'm going to consider going to this. Baltimore is not too far away from me. And, I've always to go to John Water's hometown.

A NY club show would be cool if they're that close

If Shindig has anywhere near the intensity of the Vegas shows I'm down. They may just keep the same set as these shows. I cant see them going back to the TGEA tour sets for this. I'm going to wait till summer September though before buying.

Well as a Headliner they may be obligated to play 2 hours like Gathering of the Vibes. So that means Sparx!

You wish.

Jane's Addition will never be onstage for more than 80 minutes, and there will be a 10 minute break before the encore.

Really? I might consider going to Toronto when I'm in the east coast (and I'm not asked for a visa to go to Canada)

Lollapalooza '09 wasn't bad at all as my first and only experience. But well, me being excited helped a lot.

Really? Now I am thinking about Riot Fest in Chicago. Since it is unlikely that I will score a Kate Bush ticket to any of the London shows, I may treat myself to the Riot Fest VIP package instead. I won't be working in September, so I'll have time to make a little Chicago holiday. Last time I was in Chicago was in the 90s when the World Cup was there.

When are you thinking to visit Toronto? I will be available for tour guide duty. :wave

Here is some news about visas:

Sounds less of a hassle, but I agree with some comments on that page. I've met 60+ Canadians who own a house in San Miguel and spend 6 months there (and don't require a visa). Maybe I will get one when I plan a trip over there. I would love to go when I graduate, hopefully next year I can

Just bought my tickets! Not a bad deal at all actually. $60 per ticket. Jane's end at 11:00pm. I imagine their start time is 9 or 9:30 depending on the Rider. I'll probably Amtrak it from NY. Beers and Food in the park. Should be fun!

they'll be slotted for 930-11. 940-950 will be shine on you crazy diamond. 950-1045 - predictable set; no surprises. 1050 jane says. they may be okay. they may mail it in. bman, you will love them.
and while I'm addressing you, oh keeper of the flame, let me just say that the fact that you continue to groove on what JA puts out today is admirable if a bit delusional and I'm all for it. I'm sure there are many among us who would love to enjoy them the way you do.
but as long as you're traveling for them, why not take a moment outside of seeing perry butcher aint no right and the band remind you of something great during 3 days, and explore billy-town a little. it's a freaking great city. get some mussels at bertha's. or some crabs at any number of places. get some drinks at fells point. get some dope with dave on at any of the locations where 'the wire' shot. yes, charm city. it's worth making your jane's addiction road trip about more than the same jane's addiction show you've seen so many times.

Thanks for the advice. Yea I've been to Baltimore a couple of times for work shit but never really explored. I will this time.

I bet it's Nothing Shocking 9:00- 10:00pm. break, 10:10 -10:20 In The Flesh/Sparx: 10:25-10:55 3 days, aint, bcs, stop, chip.

Jane's has not been onstage more than 80 minutes.... umm... ever. and that counts the breaks they take between songs for Perry to ramble about useless bullshit, or between encores.

They'll start at 9:40 and be done at 10:50.

They usually play 80 minutes. Sometimes 90. BUT, certain riders like Gathering of the Vibes they were contractually obligated to play 2 hours. They did. Well maybe 1:55! But they played Whores the way it was supposed to be played, not like the new Ninja version they play. They had extended jams on BCS, three Days etc. That's how they extend the show. And BobHouse, Sparx etc. NAd a few minutes of Intros before Jane Says.

I hope you're right but I'm wondering why you think they'd ever sign a contract like they did for that hippie fest where they're obliged to play a long set in order to get paid? it's not like that's the only festival they've done. they do festivals all the time and they play a festival set, which for most bands is shorter than their usual set but for jane's, since their usual set is already plenty short, it's the exact same thing.

that one time they somehow agreed to play a long set. jambands play all night. someone in management missed the part in the contract about jamming a long set for the tripping hippies. and as a recovering deadhead (not hard to recover, since it's nearly 20 years since jerry died) I'm certainly sorry I missed gathering of the stinkies. it's not that far away and when I saw that they booked jane's, I thought something cool might happen. (although in truth I really didn't expect anything more than the regular set with ripple thrown in, but that would have been cool, and obviously there are a few links between some members of JA and the GD thing.)

anyway, that was a once in a lifetime thing, just like some natty-bohs and mussels at bertha's, which I say again will be better than jane's during that warm day in Baltimore.

I was never a deadhead but went to one of their shows in 1983/84(i think). It was a benefit concert they did with The Band...blind children in bangladesh or something like that. Anyway, it was one of the best concert experiences of my concert going life! The show was at Kingswood concert theatre which was a live music venue in an amusement park just outside of Toronto. A guy I met there fed me mushrooms, and later someone painted my feet.
I had never seen so many people bootlegging shows before like they were at this show. A dude walked in on cructhes and then planted one in the grass which he used as a stand for his recording equipment.

Any of these other bands on the bill of interest? I only recognize Fishbone.

I've heard good things about J Roddy Walston and The Business.

Have not listened to them myself yet, though.
