This was spot-on, for me.

Perry was amusing at the start of the proceedings, but the thin veneer soon wore through and it was clear he wasn't going to contribute anything of substance to the evening's discussion. Quite a few of his comments were cringeworthy, and while this was par for the course, it clearly irritated Gus van Sant and the bloke hosting the session.

The comments about Casey were very much in line with what you'd expect from him, but it still left a bad taste in the mouth to hear them. Hoping for a bit of class and a dignified response is just too much. The 'low-down' on the wedding just showed what an arsehole he is - it seemed to me that he was bragging about it by pulling the wool over her eyes.

I don't remember the exact words he used now, but he also blathered on about how they knocked around for a couple of years as though the relationship was really quite casual. There was just no acknowledgement of the obvious role she played in inspiring and shaping his work. Of course he wouldn't acknowledge that....not when there was an opportunity to turn a question about Casey into the chance to talk about how is is now happily married and has two beautiful children....

It was interesting to see the film again after so long, but Perry didn't add anything to it other than again show what a small person he is.

Partially playing devil's advocate here (as usual), but I think part of what bothers us collectively about Perry nowadays has more to do with the fact that we all bought into it as opposed to him doing much of anything differently than he did back then. The dude was likely ALWAYS the way he is now but we were too naive, young and in love with the music to really peep it for what it was...we've all changed a lot since 1991 and I don't regret admiring Perry and Jane's back then, but let's be real...we were all taken with a hard core drug addict and addicts are often selfish people who use the hell out of other people and he's no different...but a lot of us are...

Perry is an insecure little boy. It's a shame people have spent so much time kissing his ass, because now he's pushing 60 and has never had to grow up and become a mature adult.
