Strays early version?

I readon the .org site that Leaked early versions of this album have a much more rough and natural sound that Jane’s Addiction is known for, and some fans prefer the leaked recordings over the final product.

Is this true and why didn't I know about this? can someone shed some light and a title or maybe even a download?

yes there is an early version. i like it better. back when xiola was around some guy came on and said that he had the album early. sonny called bullshit and the guy sent it to him. sonny made the famous post and review that "you guys will fucking love this album". he shared it with dain and told him not to share it. of course dain gave it to everyone. i don't have it on my computer anymore or i would upload it. i'm sure someone has it.

Yep. That version of True Nature is the best song any of these guys has done in years.

Ive got it somewhere. True Nature end is really good. The version of To Match The Sun without that shitty voice over at the start is much better also. Forgot about that. Good to listen to it again.

the riff in True Nature is still pretty lame no matter what version it is, but the breakdown guitar in that song is very very good. Very cool chordal work

I've never liked TMTS. That's a True Nature demo right? With different lyrics. I thought the Hypersonic leaked version was the same as Strays but it the longer ending?

Wow! Thank you for so much information. Well I've basically put strays out of my mind for years, many years, but I listened to it the other day and it was just what I remembered, pretty lame and generic. If someone has the early version I'd love to hear it cause anything has got to be better that the released version.

TMTS sounds similar to the more dreamy airy parts of RDLH at times.
What could have been...........

Same here. Although that excitement was quickly tempered by the "meh" '02 NYE show where they played Hypersonic and at least one other Strays album song that didn't exactly indicate the new album was going to be anywhere as good as the previous stuff.

Also, I don't recall the Chipmunks/Etty spoken "pillow" bit though that's in this version of the holiday greeting.

I remember being pretty psyched for the album. I did like True Nature, Strays, and Just B/C when it first came out. But I stopped listening very soon after I bought it. I also saw the 03 show at Irving Plaza and it was a little dull. I then saw them at Lolla 03 and knew it would soon be over. It just didn't seem like Janes at all. Lame glam shit. The subsequent tours (Ninja, even TGEA, and the recent shows) were far better in my opinion.

Strays is about 98% bad. Although the outro of price I pay is cool because it inexplicably sounds like PFP. Just because also gets a pass from me because a.) it has cool guitar work, and b.) the lyrical content is in line with perry's childlike naïveté from 1.0.

Other than that, it's all pretty much modern rawk shlock.

I listened to Strays yesterday. Can't say it's aged well or not, it still is what it was, Jane's attempt at being a KROCK band. No art or punk vibe. The worst is that generic riff in True Nature, it reminds me of the heavy part in 311's first shitty single.

Indeed. Ezrin is "classic" rock and kinda depressing for Jane's album...

Don't know why but in True Nature I can hear "Sabotage" intro of Beasties Boys...

Yep, I thought it really sounded like Jane's. I was very psyched. Seemed to be picking up right where 1.0 had left off. To say that it was misleading would be quite the understatement. Even that very portion of the song on the album track sounded like garbage compared to what was done on that little snippet.

Imagine if they'd actually come out and killed it with an incredible album. That's what you'll have to do. Imagine.
