That might have been the Pigs in Zen site that was on Geocities. I found that site on the Jane's Addiction Ate My Balls page ( http://members.tripod.com/~krazy_keith/Ballz.html ) and it was on that Pigs in Zen site that I learned what songs Jane's would be playing during the Relapse tour by reading other peoples reviews.

It also had a tape trading section and it was there that I built up my bootleg collection by offering up the ENIT '97 show I recorded to random people I'd sent emails to.

I then went to 1% before it had forums in 98 or 99 and have bounced around each Jane's related site ever since.

Interesting thread.

I'd never heard that early version of True Nature before - not the Hyperleaked version but the one in the YouTube clip.

Is there a full bootleg of demos with this rougher sound?

Thanks.

Right on! There was a Jane's site I'd check every day leading up to relapse. I just got the Internet and heard rumors of a Jane's reunion at Porno For Pyros shows. I would look for any news or update, I checked that site every day and thanks to that site I knew when tickets went on sale and went to the relapse show. I never posted until someone reviewed the Halloween show and greatly exaggerated what went on (MTV cameras pulled down in a riot, Casey was there). I picked a message board fight and then never posted anything again until Xiola!

Hmmm. While there was no riot, MTV did have a very long robotic arm with a camera on it. It was capable of going out from the left side all the way into the middle of the crowd. It was low over the crowd, and people jumped up and grabbed it. It was briefly stuck there, with people hanging onto it, their weight making it slump even lower. It was pretty funny.

I can't remember if this shows up in the footage. I think Perry might have commented on it at the end of the show.

The second Relapse show I saw did in fact feature a small riot-like event at the beginning. During Ocean Size there was a huge surge to the front, and the barrier broke. I think someone ended up with a broken ankle or two, though I'm not sure what else may have happened. The band retreated, and the show was delayed for a long time, perhaps 45 minutes or so. Apparently it was too wild in there, and the band elected to play the acoustic set from the stage, rather than venture through the crowd. The show was so-so, and the sound in this basketball auditorium was godawful, but Ted, which I think was the closer, was one of the most savage versions I've heard.

I know, Perry did comment. Describing it as a riot and saying Casey was at the side of the stage is what brought me out of "lurker" status!

Was that Chicago?

Where the barrier broke? That was in the greater Boston area. Brandeis University in Waltham. Gosman Center, an atrocious venue fit only for sports.

A shit ton of hallucinogenics? Wow, how edgy of you. Must've been super amazing balls, you know, with all the trippin from the shit ton of hallucinogenics you were on that time, you know? And I'm sure it wasn't the only time either, I'm sure you've been on a shit ton of hallucinogenics many times, maybe even regularly. I mean, I wouldn't be surprised if you're on a shit ton of hallucinogenics right now. I can feel your edge right here, right here sort of cutting my ears with that edge of yours, so sharp because of the shit ton of hallucinogenics you were on that night.

Hi! I know this is an old post, but, can someone please re upload those early versions of Strays?

Here's is the link for the video of Jane's Addiction - 12-11-2003 - Hammersmith Carling Apollo, London, England. I uploaded it yesterday. I remember that I downloaded it many years ago with some software, but I totally forgot I had it on my old computer.

Thanks for the upload. 2003 footage is rare!

Unfortunately I didn't make it past the beginning of up the back due to those atrocious synths. What in the Fuck were they thinking? Makes the "pew pews" of today seem tolerable.

I got into Jane's when NS came out. I was in 7th grade and my friend had a shitty cassette by them. I really didn't get completely into them until about 1990. The first Lolla was amazing and the Palladium shows were insane and scary on how good they were. Janes and P4P got through college and had a screening room in my dorm of The Gift on repeat. Everybody in my Dorm section were there. Looking back at it I don't know if that would fly in college campuses these days. Everything has gotten so PC. On a side note. I remember at the Depeche Mode Violator concert at dodger stadium I saw Perry and Casey and some friends. I remember standing in line with Perry and Casey and was just amazed how cool they where. Of course I didn't say anything to them. Too many people trying to talk with them.

I think they sound pretty good and they seem to be having fun. They should 've stopped there...

Dain aka Adolf shared it with me and i wasn''t supposed to share it, but i shared it with everyone - that's actually how that went

I think it's way better than TGEA. There were quite few that loved it. It was a strange time. As KV said there was so much excitement around the band. The new years eve before the album came out the band sent people that had signed up on their site a short "happy new year" message with a little happy new year song. It was like the greatest thing ever at the time. Back then Perry could do no wrong and everything was blamed on Dave. It was a very rough time for Six7Six7.
