Re: Mourning Son
i'm curious to see this. i guess it's released today. they weren't able to get any major distribution on the film so it may not be that great. probably etty's fault.
Re: Mourning Son
do we know which platforms (Netflix, Itunes etc....) It's going to be released on??
Re: Mourning Son
i'm guessing you will be able to dl from their website and some cable systems will have it on vod??Romeo wrote:do we know which platforms (Netflix, Itunes etc....) It's going to be released on??
Re: Mourning Son
their website only has the trailer as far as I can tell..
Re: Mourning Son
I watched it on Demand early this morning. It was excellent. I loved it and don't have any criticism. Seriously. Very powerful and unbelievably uplifting at the end.
I hear from friends they can't get it on iTunes or Google Play and are vert frustrated but if you have cable it's available on Demand. Apparently it's an issue with Vega Baby the distributor. Five stars.

Re: Mourning Son
First day buyer, fifth day watcher. I'll review on like Saturday.
Re: Mourning Son
I'm finally found it on Fios on demand. I had to type it in search..
Re: Mourning Son
i just watched it. it was $6 through my cable provider.
it was actually really good. i was sort of surprised. i've seen some of the videos that todd newman has directed for jane's and thought they were pretty bad with tons of quick and unnecessary cuts but this was really well done. i know they spent a few years making this but many of the interviews were not in hd which i thought was odd. my only minor complaint was the end where they showed the time when dave went to the desert and got holes poked in him and they used his blood to paint a picture of his mom. i just didn't think it was needed and was sort of out of place.
stephen was in it but no perry.

Re: Mourning Son
I just finished it. My Lady, who is not a huge fan was pretty bored and left the room early...I was pretty pissed since I made dinner and got wine! Listen, this is Dave's story, and it's a 33 year in the making story. When his Mother was murdered he was a kid, and then quickly became a rock guy in a touring band while his Mom's killer was still on the loose. That's a lot to handle. His story and journey are absolutely authentic and true and one of a kind. Who knows if Dave would have even become the Dave that we know if this never happened. I was kind of thinking that while I was watching.
Now, just talking about the actual film, b/c they did make a film and want it to be seen...Therefore, I feel I can comment on the Film artistically speaking without being offensive to the subject matter..There were definitely some heavy moments in there. And it basically followed a plot line (limo), but I kinda was losing interest along the way too. I loved seeing some of the Three Days outtakes. I would have loved to have heard from Neal Strauss though who saw Dave during his post Relapse tour year. It told a story and was obviously a therapeutic journey for Dave. And I'm glad he shared it. But Todd could have edited it better. His videos in the past kind of seemed film schooly to me. It would have been nice to hear how Todd met Dave, or how he helped him out. Sometimes it seemed like it was just a Dark Matter episode...Again, I'm only speaking to the creative aspect of it.

Re: Mourning Son
I watched it and even though we all knew what happened (and saw some of the clips) I thought it was very well done. Very heart wrenching. I think what got me was his Dad. When he spoke you could see how much pain the murder caused him. His face at the trial. Even though they couldn't live together and divorced he obviously still loved her very deeply and on top of it his love and concern for his son.
Dave should be very proud of this film and it seems like it was a complete cathartic experience for him. Maybe now he can live a happy life.
Also I think it's definitely film festival worthy

Re: Mourning Son
I live in the Los Angeles area and cant seem to find it anywhere. I have Time Warner cable. Any suggestions? Is it available on Itunes yet? Thanks
Re: Mourning Son
I don't know if TWC on demand is like Fios on demand but on Fios I couldn't find it until I typed the title in search.
And I broke my on demand cherry. I NEVER pay for rentals on there, I only watch what's free. So I think because it was my first I got $1 off Fios must of been like "OH DAMN!! she ordered something!!"

Re: Mourning Son
Man has Dave aged like 15 years in the last couple of months or what? I thought he would never age but something about the glasses the skrillex hair and the increasing grey hair and more wrinkly face just kicked in combined together over the last two seasons of ink master.
He also got bulkier lately which doesnt suit him imo. He looked superhuman handsome when he was zero fat shredded and fit but not bulky. Think relapse period up until the rexall video clip.
Its crazy if you think about it that he got old so immediately after getting things sorted out quitting heroin making some healing closing this chapter with his mom maybe getting more comfortable and confident due to having something of his own finally (ink masta) and gaining relative stand vs perry in terms of interband dynamics and even quitting smoking after 25 years
Strange how it works

Re: Mourning Son
Yea I believe he was on the heroin diet then. Speedballing + almost in liver failure = that fabulous zero fat heroin chic lookjanesbiggestfan wrote:. He looked superhuman handsome when he was zero fat shredded and fit but not bulky. Think relapse period up until the rexall video clip.
Re: Mourning Son
Quitting smoking usually leads to eating more for a time.
Re: Mourning Son
I hope I am as fat as Dave when I am 50.
Re: Mourning Son
Dave was pretty close to death in this picture
