unfortunately i think it's been at the stage for a long while that whether he tries or does not try, the end result is the same.

Your post made me think of this:

As for that line-up, there's about 30 acts I would see. However, I wouldn't be able to handle port-o-potties,huge lines and thousands of people for 4 days!

6 I've heard of....2 or 3 I may or may not have. Looks like torture, but the new RHCP will need to be dropped by then, so that's good

surprised to see the Chili peppers back again so soon, Radiohead is obviously a cool booking, especially this year where they're playing only a handful of shows

That's what I was going for :lolol:

Re the festivals and toilets and millions of people, thankfully because I'm old now, I only know the bigger bands playing so if I'm going to a festival, it's late in the day where I can avoid the long queues to get in etc... still lots of people there but you can't avoid that...

It's weird seeing Jane's listed 10th on a Lollapalooza poster. I know, all the obvious shit that I agree with, but still strange. I guess it's more me feeling older seeing that.

after the first three big headliners it seems to drop off quite a bit. i'm not that in to modern music these days but are j cole (who i never heard of), lana del ray, and future (who i never heard of) really #2 acts?? this is a three day festival. i expected bigger names. they have it selling out every year so i guess they don't care.

riot fest also in chicago this summer will probably have a way better lineup.

It's a 4 day festival actually. But yeah, where are the headliners?

I was expecting something enormous for their 25th anniversary.

RHCP and Radiohead have both headlined before in non-special years.

Coachella is bringing GNR out of retirement. Lollapalooza is apparently planning on helping the RHCP and Radiohead go into retirement or something. Snooze. Zzzzz

I'll bet Lollapalooza would have an easier time selecting special headliners if they didn't run 6 separate festivals around the globe in a 3 month timeframe.

Good job Perry. Way to find ways to make your festival as thin as your band's set list.

I am surprised to see Third Eye Blind on the bill period. How much did they pay to get on there? What's next, Matchbox 20?

My wife listens to this shit all day long. Every time I drive her car, the first thing I do before I even adjust the mirrors or buckle my seat belt is change the station off of KIIS FM. Today's pop music doesn't make me feel old, it makes me feel lucky I lived through the era I did.

I'm not a fan of that music either. I think that shit is called "trap". Seems to be a popular sound these days.

According to Wikipedia:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trap_music
Trap music is a music genre that originated in the early 1990s in the Southern United States. It is typified by its aggressive lyrical content and sound, where the instrumentals are propelled by 808 kick drums or heavy extended sub-bass lines, double-time, triple-time and other faster time division hi-hats,[1] layered synthesizers, and "cinematic" strings.

Characteristics
Trap music incorporates an extensive use of multi-layered hard-lined and melodic synthesizers; crisp, grimy and rhythmic snares; deep 808 sub-bass kick drums or heavy sub-bass lines; double-time, triple-time and similarly divided hi-hats; and a cinematic and symphonic utilization of string, brass and keyboard instruments creating an overall dark, harsh, grim and bleak atmosphere for the listener. These primary characteristics would go on to be the signature sound of trap music originating from producer Shawty Redd. The tempo of a typical trap beat is around 140 BPM.

Trap music is also defined by its ominous, bleak, gritty and belligerent lyrical content which varies widely according to artist. Typical lyrical themes portrayed include observations of street life, poverty, violence, hardship in the "trap" and harsh experiences in urban surroundings.
