New Jane's Addiction's book is coming!
Hi guys,
Besides being a Jane's fan, I'm a journalist from Buenos Aires, Argentina. I have been working on a book about Jane's Ritual era, in spanish, for five years and with +100hs of exclusive interviews. Aaaand... it's done!
The whole classic lineup -Perry, Dave, Eric, Stephen- is included on the book, among Casey Niccoli, Dave Jerden, Ronnie Champagne, and a lot of really great artists and friends.
It will be published in spanish, and it will be the first alternative-related bio in this language. I hope we can also make an english version.
If you would like to see an advance text, here it is:
EL RITUAL DE JANE'S ADDICTION - FABRIZIO PEDROTTI
FOREWORDS BY PERRY FARRELL AND MIKE PORTNOY
WITH PICTURES BY JOHN EDER, A. J. BARRETT AND STEVE SPELLER. OUT IN ARGENTINA IN MID 2017.
How the most important alternative record was done? Why Jane’s Addiction created their masterpiece –which became double platinum- while having the worst time of their lifes? How was Lollapalooza founded?
Ego wars, drugs, heroin overdoses, chaotic shows, shotguns, AIDS, censorship and troubles with the police. This biography has all that. But besides telling one of the wildest plots in rock music, it analyzes the history of a group that had everything to lose… until they dealt with their demons.
Written from over 100 hours of exclusive interviews with the whole band (Farrell, Navarro, Avery and Perkins); and with access to never-seen-before material, the author reconstructed one of the most interesting musical adventures of the last century. El Ritual de Jane’s Addiction is also the first bio of his kind to be published in spanish, and demanded the author five years of work.

“I consider Fabrizio as a friend, and I have faith on him. I know he has love in his heart for me, and that he whishes me well. Unlike other journalists, he was up front, telling me that he was writing this book. It’s interesting that he made this being in Argentina, because we live so far away from each other… and his work got me! One day, I will write my own story. But first of all I’ll read this book, so it can shine my memory. Fabrizio has my blessing”.
-Perry Farrell, december 2016.
Extract from the foreword.
SOME INCLUDED INTERVIEWS:
“It’s a miracle that they could finish ‘Ritual de lo Habitual’. For their previous record, as the producer got to the studio, they were already leaving. They had split up even before beginning!”.
-Jane Bainter, muse of the group and friend of the band since the early ‘80s.
“I knew it could be our last album, so I tried to make it as best as possible. I was getting high all the time, being a junkie and doing speedballs. The band was strained, and the things were starting to fall off. After ‘Ritual…’, they definitely collapsed”.
-Perry Farrell, Jane’s Addiction’s singer.
“Warner told us to do anything we wanted… so we held tight to that!”.
-Stephen Perkins, Jane’s Addiction’s drummer.
“Once I saw Jimi Hendrix at the Hollywood Bowl… and they were as good as him”.
-Dave Jerden, producer of Jane’s Addiction, The Rolling Stones and Alice in Chains.
“For ‘Ritual…’, we wanted to progress as artists. Our producer was a great guy to work with, and he got the best from us. He helped me find my style, so I owe him a lot”.
-Dave Navarro, Jane’s Addiction’s guitar player.
“No one missed each other. We all had the feeling that the band wasn’t going to last. Our friends went to the shows saying: ‘Maybe this is the last time I see them, because they hate each other… or because they are going to die from a heroin overdose”.
-Eric Avery, Jane’s Addiction’s bass player.
“’Nothing’s Shocking’ was epic, but the group and the production flowed much more on ‘Ritual…’. The only shows that I saw that were close to the Jane’s, were The Clash and Led Zeppelin”.
-Henry Rollins, Black Flag’s singer.
“They published an amazing alternative music record, in a time that term was being used a lot. Perry Farrell was a visionary, and he was ahead of his time. The best compliment that you can give to an artist is to tell him that he is original. They really were!”
-Scott Ian, Anthrax’s guitar player.
“Since they unleashed ‘Ritual…’, an entire generation could identify themselves and say: ‘this is my scene’”.
-Mike Muir, Suicidal Tendencies’ and Infectious Grooves’ singer.
Also appearing: Fred Durst (Limp Bizkit), Corey Glover (Living Colour), Nick Oliveri (Queens of the Stone Age), Jimmy Chamberlin (The Smashing Pumpkins), Angelo Moore (Fishbone), Paul Leary (Butthole Surfers), Martyn Lenoble (Porno for Pyros), Gilby Clarke (Guns N’ Roses), Casey Niccoli, Dave Jerden, Chris Cuffaro, Ted Gardner, Ronnie Champagne, Inger Lorre, Paul V., Brian Virtue...

Felicitaciones, Fabricio!
Re: New Jane's Addiction's book is coming!
So these are new current day interviews? Or are they just a collection of old interviews like the book Whores? If new, I'd be interested in reading what Casey has to say.

Eric Avery was really kind too, putting all the stuff together for real, in person and in a way I've never heard before. And also discussing a lot of things that were uncovered.
Farrell, Navarro and Perkins said a lot of things too!
Re: New Jane's Addiction's book is coming!
Does the book have a chapter on Janes Addiction online message board communities?

Not really, but at the end there's an excerpt about that. It's all based between 1989/1991.Noonesshocking wrote:Do the interviews also cover the '08-'10 reunion?

Did anyone in or around the band demand any sort of pre final copy review or edit powers?
