Sounds like it- he even quit smoking cigs.
God that would be awful, what a horrible way to live. Not being able to have a beer or two due to the danger of relapsing onto drugs.

It does suck. A beer buzz is the gateway to warm phone calls and reminiscing with old pals. This leads to wanting to feel something more and that usually is your drug of choice. A beer buzz is not enough. You're constantly searching for that next level. Then a night turns into a week of calling in sick, etc. I live it.

I don't think Dave ever drank even when he wasn't clean??

For me these days a beer buzz leads to cheeseburgers, pizza and ice cream. :oldtimer:

A lot of time helps a lot. For some people anyway...others, like you said, 1-2 drinks is a hell of a gamble
(And when I say a lot of time I mean 10+ years)

Sometimes not even time helps I was at a friends wedding and the father of the groom had been sober for like 17 years and had one glass of champagne, after about a 6 month bender he is now back on the wagon. Shit affects people in all kinds of different ways. Personally I like drying out for a month or two namely for health reasons but also because when I do have a drink I drink a lot less and get my buzz and my brisket.

tried to buy that guitar from someone more than once. the guy i was talking to kept it under his bed still in pieces. would love to have it still. also, i'm not completely sure it's a starfield. i'm pretty sure it was a custom job for dave specifically. a one off guitar. that's all a memory though.

good to see it's still around.

Ok, the images are not showing for me and I have googled "custom nothing's shocking ibanez, Navarro guitar" and every version of that I can think of. Wasn't there a twins Ibanez that was stolen after he had it for a NY minute? Was talking to my kiddo about gear and it came up.
