i wasn't trying to break any ground, the "i think" was more sarcasm. It's a fact that shit songs by big bands will get support until they bring in enough money to support their existence.Larry B. wrote:oh, what an original presumption! Jane's chart competition on October 18th

Wow, look at Matthew Good hanging tough at #21. Good for him; American audiences should be priviledged to hear such well-meaning musicians.
That Bush album isn't bad either...if you're into that sort of thing
Re: Jane's chart competition on October 18th
It's a Canadian station. American audiences aren't hearing shit from that guy.NYRexall wrote:Wow, look at Matthew Good hanging tough at #21. Good for him; American audiences should be priviledged to hear such well-meaning musicians.
Re: Jane's chart competition on October 18th
Hmm, my mistake. For some reason I read it as a California station.
That's pretty sad then that the RHCP is so high up on that list.

They ARE the people that spawned crap like Rush and Nickelback.NYRexall wrote:Hmm, my mistake. For some reason I read it as a California station.

Re: Jane's chart competition on October 18th
Okay, but the U.S. doesn't have a leg to stand on there because those two bands (for lack of a better word in Nickelback's case) routinely sell out arenas when they tour the Americas. Plus, for every shit band Canada spawns, they're usually good for about 10 decent ones at the same time.
Turn on the radio in the U.S., and 95% of it comes from our homeland and about 90% is fucking garbage.

I need some clarification on your post. Are you saying that RHCP spawned Rush?Six7Six7 wrote:They ARE the people that spawned crap like Rush and Nickelback.NYRexall wrote:Hmm, my mistake. For some reason I read it as a California station.

Rush has been around since the 70s.

I thought that too. He meant Canada.

The Canadian Government has apologized for Bryan Adams on several occasions.
Re: Jane's chart competition on October 18th
There is nothing wrong with Bryan Adams.

noel gallagher: Amazon Best Sellers Rank: #3,382 in Music
jane's is up to #93 on amazon. that is pretty impressive for an album that isn't out for two weeks. maybe this will have decent sales??
Re: Jane's chart competition on October 18th
Actually, # 94 specifically in the rock category of Amazon's music section. #180 in overall music

I think the album will do respectable sales the first week. I'm predicting about 15 thousand cds first week sales.
Re: Jane's chart competition on October 18th
That's not respectable.Pandemonium wrote:I think the album will do respectable sales the first week. I'm predicting about 15 thousand cds first week sales.
Didn't Dave's solo CD sell almost 11 thousand?
If Jane's does 15 thousand they should break up.
Re: Jane's chart competition on October 18th
That was 2001 15000 now is like 75000 in 2001Six7Six7 wrote:That's not respectable.Pandemonium wrote:I think the album will do respectable sales the first week. I'm predicting about 15 thousand cds first week sales.

No it's not. Album sales are like 50% of they were in 2001, not 15%Eric B. wrote:That was 2001 15000 now is like 75000 in 2001Six7Six7 wrote:That's not respectable.Pandemonium wrote:I think the album will do respectable sales the first week. I'm predicting about 15 thousand cds first week sales.

So Jane's should do 50-60,000.
Re: Jane's chart competition on October 18th
I'll be shocked if they come in under 50K.
I stand by my prediction of #1 rock album released. #3 At worst overall. We sell this band short because they've let us down.

I think they are totally capable of #1hokahey wrote:I'll be shocked if they come in under 50K.

I think they are capable of 150,000 albums sold the first week.
I just don't think Irresistible Force is the single that is going to do it in today's mediocre buttrock climate.
Maybe if they had another straight rocker like Just Because tearing up the charts, but the space banging song seems a little over the heads of the typical Godsmack/Nickelback listening public who only buy records if they "rawk"
Re: Jane's chart competition on October 18th
rock is dead, btw.

i largely agree.Larry B. wrote:rock is dead, btw.
It will be back though. Someone good will come along eventually and change things. It's always been a cycle.
