Jane's chart competition on October 18th

#1 Post by JOEinPHX » Tue Sep 27, 2011 11:56 am

Jane's Addiction - The Great Escape Artist

Chris Isaak - Beyond the Sun
Everlast - Songs Of The Ungrateful Living
M83 - Hurry Up, We're Dreaming
Patrick Stump [of Fall Out Boy] - Soul Punk
Puscifer - Conditions Of My Parole
Shelby Lynne - Revelation Road
Noel Gallagher - High Flying Birds

Amongst others, but those are the big names.

So who's going to take the top spot? I think Noel Gallagher or M83 might have this locked. Shelby Lynne is respectable in country circles, she might have a shot.

Jane's will come in 3rd or 4th. Maybe 2nd if Capital starts promoting the album sometime soon.

M83 in the top spot? :lolol:

Look, I like M83 and all...

It's between Jane's, Maynard and Gallagher. I'm gonna go with Jane's.

M83s entire US tour is sold out right now. Multiple nights/shows were even added and those sold out too.

I think the new album, especially being a double, is going to sell well. They are pretty high up on the "this is cool" list right now.

Shelby will win, duh. But don't count out M83 for a strong showing; he was a crit/hipster darling that hasn't been acive for a spell, so anticipation will be there.

what creep said.

however, there is such a lack of 'rock' music out there lately that maybe they have a shot at selling 10-20k the first week.

Dude, this is fucking elevator music for the damned. I thought simmons electronic drums went out of style about 1986.

I'd rather listen to that chattering Diamonde Galas chick.

I am so confused. :hs:

How can you not like M83? I mean, it's just... good. Not 80s guitar good, not Bon Jovi good like i am sure alot of you are into since you're old men, but it's not oontz ootnz electronic. There is substance and beauty to it.

So... what is wrong with YOU?

Sorry, but I find M83 a bit overrated. They're like an electronic-based Slowdive homage, though nowhere as good. I might check their new album out though, if I see it at a decent price. I heard it's supposed to be something else.

I can't believe some of you seem to be serious about Noel Gallagher taking the top spot. Are we talking about Billboard, or the U.K. Top Ten? If we're talking about Britain, he might have a shot at cracking the top ten. If we're talking about America, he can consider his album a success if it manages to sneak into the top 150.

Seriously, Noel Gallagher? His brother's new band released the best Oasis album since 1995 earlier this year and it barely registered a pulse on Billboard. What makes you think his older brother's album of acoustic torch songs is going to place any better?

My money is on Shelby or whatever lame flavour of the month dance-based studio production is wafting around the top five for the month prior.

How come nobody's talking about Chris Issak's album of covers of "To Match the Sun?"

I like M83. I have since 2005.

Never heard of Shelby Lynne so I'll take your word for it. Country fans don't tend to steal their music as much.

I'll go on record as saying Jane's will be the #1 rock album.

Who wants to make a bet? Winner creates losers avatar for a month.

No way, dude. Beady Eye was the first Oasis(-like) record since Be Here Now that didn't bore me half to death by record's end. And their best since Morning glory.

I defy you to name a post-1995 Oasis album that stands above it.

DING! We have a winner. It may indeed be "the best Oasis album since 1995," but that is hardly a distinction worth championing.
