"Pirates, Punks & Politics" feat. Perry Farrell

Postby Stickyfingers » Sat Oct 07, 2017 2:23 am

Found this new song on youtube, sounds really early 90's.

Long time didn't hear Perry so aggressive, voice and lyrics are ok to me, like it.

The artistic evolution of THE BLOODY BEETROOTS (Sir Bob Cornelius Rifo) has enabled one of electronic music’s most engaging producers and songwriters to work more closely with a diverse array of artists. Available now is THE BLOODY BEETROOTS new single “Pirates, Punks & Politics” featuring Perry Farrell. For the song, which appears on THE BLOODY BEETROOTS new album The Great Electronic Swindle (Last Gang Records) due out October 20, Rifo chose the modern rock innovator and legendary Jane’s Addiction vocalist, and reunited him with superstar drummer Tommy Lee to write and record this timely, politically charged musical manifesto.

Ask me any simple question
I’m an information contradiction
Ask me any simple question
I’ll bash you with my fiction diction

Pirate Punk Politician
I got you in a bad position
Pirate Punk Politician
I don’t need nobody’s permission

Split your country down the middle
Break out your old banjos and fiddles
Disconnect all the angels souls
Gather up now lets GO

Pirate Punk Politician
I got you in a bad position
Pirate Punk Politician
I don’t need nobody’s permission

Stood you up now with a wink
Got you all to double think
I’ll cut your job I’ll raise your rent
Cause I’m your so called president

Pirate Punk Politician
I got you in a bad position
Pirate Punk Politician
I don’t need nobody’s permission

Like the lyrics. Haven't listened to it yet. A little drunk and it's not appropriate to have on loud music this late.

I saw Perry perform solo with the Bloody Beetroots back in 2009. I guess they must have got along. I thought the Beetroots were better.

"Fiction diction". Sounds like something Perry would write.

Sounds like any other shitty new Jane's song. Generic rock, flavored with cliche electronics, coupled with old man Perry's auto tuned to shit vocals featuring vague references to things that may be currently relevant.

To me it sounds like that boring mid 90's Industrial "lite" junk that bands like Filter and Stabbing Westword put out.

Completely forgettable garbage.

Army of Anyone put out a great one-and-done album a decade ago. The living STP guys should get back together with the Filter dude.

I gotta share this funny story about Stabbing Westward. They were from the Chicagoland area so they were opening for a lot of local bands in the 90's. Anyway one of the shows I was at the singer did some kind of Jesus pose with his arms out and someone chucked his cell phone at the singer and it hit him squarely in the nose. His nose basically exploded and blood was gushing everywhere while he walked off stage.

Besides never liking their music, I think my negative opinion towards Stabbing Westword has to do with the fact that I bought two tickets to see them in like 1999 or 2000 when I was living in Arizona because my girlfriend at the time was a big fan of the band. So I spent like $50 a few weeks before the show to see them and apparently the band was on the verge of breaking up the day of the show and didn't bother to notify the venue that they weren't playing until like an hour before the doors were supposed to open. So we arrive at the venue and there is approximately 40 people standing out front, but the place was closed with a note taped to the door saying there was a "band emergency" and the show was canceled. When I went to get a refund on my tickets the next day they said I couldn't get my money back for some lame reason I no longer remember. I just remember being super pissed that I was out $50 for a band whose music I didn't even like in the first place.

I loved that AOA album. But I liked Filter and STP so of course I did. But it really was good from top to bottom, unlike the Filter and STP albums that immediately followed.
