Perry Farrell's Kind Heaven is playing Lollapalooza

#1 Post by JOEinPHX » Wed Mar 21, 2018 9:54 am

Yes. That is how the band is billed.

Perry Farrell's Kind Heaven

Which is definitely a step down from Perry Farrell's Satellite Party

Also, this is the worst Lollapalooza lineup in the entire existence of the festival, both pre-1997 and post-2005 versions.

Agreed, and a world where Jack White is billed under the Weeknd dude is not one worth living in. Someone posted a Greta Van Fleet vid somewhere a while ago and I am fascinated with the band for a number of reasons....one is their meteoric rise; they are billed 29th or 30th. They were also asked by Elton John to play his AIDS/Oscar fundraiser a few minutes ago too.

Well, their rhythm section doesn't resemble zep at all and their guitarist only in tone and riffs (songwriting). The singer is a dead ringer (with greater range), which is part of what intrigues me. That voice wasn't achieved it was ascribed. His manipulation of it with the zep bent is both irritating to the purist in me, but is also a stone cold r&r assassin. The band is so young; it will be really interesting to see where they are now as essentially a cover band mutating a sound into their own and the glimmers of real artistic independence will lead them. They are well suited for success....all indications are that they are really disciplined and true to music as an art form, as well as students of (60's, 70's, and 80's) British and American rock.

I admit, I just got really annoyed by this song the first time I heard it (two days ago):

That is literally just a Who / Zepp cover-song with none of the heart. :scared:

They really have followed the zep express early in their career in much more than sound.

Like I said, they fascinate me; I'm rooting for them. But I have a kiddo just a few years older than they are....maybe it's paternal :noclue: ....but it's real.....for most young people.....that sanctimonious cunt reviewing it can drop dead

I've never seen a band so blatantly rip off another band, so in that sense they're original

They have mentioned that they have been working on music so I guess it will be Perryetty and some hired players...so basically Satellite Party. They will play a few new songs and some dopey versions of some jane's songs. :noclue:

The lineup is bad, but part of the problem is that there are just too many fucking festivals now. None of the bands on this bill are a surprise because once lineups start being announced early in the year for some festivals, you can deduce that they're probably gonna headline several other festivals as well. That said, the lineups for the last few years have sucked and the last good one was probably 2010 or 2011.

Lolla probably does it better than most festivals in terms of overall experience, but the uniqueness of it is gone because the market is so oversaturated.

I will say that I'm surprised the smashing pumpkins aren't on the bill. But I guess maybe they wanted to do their own Chicago show.

My guess is that SP will be on the Riot Fest Chicago lineup. They have had great lineups every year since it started.

But I thought Jane's is part of Kind Heaven. I really, really don't care. I'm just curious how much of a train wreck this will be.

So what would this be? I assume they would get as much as 40/50 minutes on the bill... would it be some Porno for Pyros + some Perry new "solo" songs + some Jane's songs??

I guess setlist would be like this:

1. Mountain Song
2. Cursed Female
3. Been Caught Stealing
4. Etty's My Kind... Heaven (new song)
5. Pets
6. Tahitian Moon
7. Stop!
8. Sex Talk, Sex Talk (new remixed version, with live DJ and hanging girls. Includes special Etty collaboration)
9. Jane Says

When Perry Farrell debuted Perry Farrell's Satellite Party, they only played songs from Perry Farrell's Satellite Party's first album.

I assume that Perry Farrell's Kind Heaven will probably only play songs from Perry Farrell's Kind Heaven's first album, too.
