Porno For Pyros Reveal Reunion Plans
Re: Porno For Pyros Reveal Reunion Plans
Songs I haven't listened to in years that are actually pretty good:
Maybe Kind Heaven can cover them
Song Yet to be Song (very good IMO)
Everybody's Friend
Suffer Some (best song of Strays IMO!)
Awesome
Milky Avenue

Tastes....ours differ...suffer some sucked
Re: Porno For Pyros Reveal Reunion Plans
I guess I like Suffer Some b/c it's a bit of a rocker. I also like Dave's guitar on it.
Re: Porno For Pyros Reveal Reunion Plans
you and I are the only ones that like some of that Satellite Party stuff I think, or perhaps we're just the only two brave enough to admit we like it
Re: Porno For Pyros Reveal Reunion Plans
The entire SYTBS album was good. Everybody's Friend was ok. Suffer Some was a pale comparison of what it used to be. Man, I completely forgot that was on Strays.
Oh, and Satellite Party was awful.

Re: Porno For Pyros Reveal Reunion Plans
I coincidentally just listened to the Strays version of "Suffer Some" today for the first time in a long time.. and I didn't enjoy it. Just made me want to listen to the old version. But take that and "Wrong Girl" off and that album is fine. Not great, but fine. (I know most fans hate "Superhero" too, but I never had a problem with it.)
And I kinda like about half of Satellite Party, especially "Hard Life Easy" with Flea and Frusciante.

Strays is a really good rock album. I think I am the only one who loathes Just Because, but I like Superhero and Suffer Some, though not as much as the older version.
SP had a couple of listenable tracks, but I've forgotten them except a cover of Celebrate. Nuno was a really good guitarist. They played a flash mob thingy at the corner of Abbot Kinney and Washington in Venice with some girl on keys who impressed....and a guy on drums who looked liked the uber douche on The 70's Show on drums. Nuno escaped and some tall lanky guy took his place and fought and lost with his guitar whenever they met....horrible

I have honestly never listen to satellite party or Panic Channel all the way through. I just remember being so profoundly disappointed with both that I could not bring myself to do it.

For me, The Panic Channel's album was better than Satellite Party's one. I still listen to TPC.
But I really love "Wish upon a dog star", "Hard life easy" and "The solutionists" from SP.

SP is miles ahead of both TPC and TGEA

Satellite Party was goofy, but at least the songs had some texture and atmosphere. And you get some flashes of post relapse, pre-SYTBS Perry here and there oddly enough. Overall, it does sound more connected to what Perry was doing before Strays, and that is a good thing in my eyes. I'm not saying it's a good album, just that it has some redeeming qualities in hindsight. SP is also a really great example of an album/band brought way down by its aesthetic choices (especially the album cover). Had that aspect been better, I really do think we'd be a bit more forgiving. But still, no one would love it.
It's for sure better than Panic Channel in any event. That was straight "token rock band on Vh1 top 20 countdown" garbage.

uh oh...people talking shit about the Panic Chanel. The Six7 signal has been activated. Prepare for retaliation.
If you want the real order of suckyness from best to worst it is:
Strays>Satellite Party>SYTBS>TGEA>Panic Chanel

I remember when the cover of the SP album was put up on, I think Amazon, and everybody started making fun of it on xiola, only for Etty to show up in the thread trying to deny that it was the actual coverNoonesshocking wrote:SP is also a really great example of an album/band brought way down by its aesthetic choices (especially the album cover)
She tried saying that it was something Perry was just messing around with in Photoshop and somehow that image got leaked to Amazon by mistake or some other nonsense. Too funny.
Oh, I just remembered. This was the one put up on Amazon.
The one they released was actually worse because it cut out the rest of the band and was now called "Perry Farrell's Satellite Party"
Re: Porno For Pyros Reveal Reunion Plans
If my bad memory is right I remember this was the "leaked" cover.
It was then edited to the final cover.
...by the way when I was looking for that cover I came across my dumb version of the cover featuring some old board members.

remember this guy?

starts around 22:00 minutes in.
Is there any footage of the Goballee show in Golden Gate Park from this era? Perry wore the same outfit. They played Happy BDay Jubilee and Admit I. I had it on video but probably lost it.
