The old dudes

#1 Post by dannyboy » Thu Jul 12, 2018 1:50 pm

Hi!

An old photo of one of the pre Dave and Stephen line-ups just popped up on my FB and it made me wonder.

Are there any interviews at all with the ex-members of the band (Ed, Matt, Chris) where they mention their experience?

I don't have my copy of Whores to hand but i don't remember any of them contributing.

I'll try! I couldn't find it again on FB but managed to locate ot at janesaddiction.org :essence:

I think we've all seen it before

I'm still wondering though...how come ed and matt are so quiet about janes? I did a little google and saw ed also played in a band with a guy who went on to be in Weezer.

They should make some music with Eric and Steve Isaacs!

If I recall, wasn't there some interview with Ed or Matt somewhere? Was is in Whores, or did Handsome Mike track one down?

I think Matt is in the Whores book. Chris is dead. Ed disappeared years ago, maybe dead at this point. Carla B. from Geraldine Fibbers emailed me about him years ago, saying he was a good dude but she had lost touch with him.

Wow, this had to be 1984, 85, or 86....outside 87. I was at Power Tools on a number of occasions and distinctly remember this incarnation of the band though at the time I had 0 interest in them. As I remember this shot was just after you entered the hotel and if you were walking past the band, from left to right from the pics pov, you would enter the main ballroom/lobby that was a massive dance floor with suspended girls in small cages with fluorescent paint on. Jane's had a totally different sound to the vibe going on in the club; they felt like a sideshow to the main event. Did anyone else see them there? My memory might need some help

Apparently it’s some time in January 1986, a few months before Daveand Steve joined (supposedly they were in the audience at this show).

Yeah, I knew Chris had died. From the little I know it seems a pretty tragic story. Would love to hear how the band sounded with him.

I know there's a boot of the original lineup. What show was that boot from and is there audio on youtube anywhere? Or is it not a boot but a demo?

I have a boot from 01/10/86 Black Radio Club that has the old members. I put it up here once before.
