PERRY FARRELL Signs With BMG For New Solo Album, 'Kind Heaven'

Visionary singer-songwriter and musician Perry Farrell has signed an exclusive worldwide record deal with BMG to release his new solo album, "Kind Heaven", a musical scene-setter for his immersive entertainment destination "Kind Heaven" set to open at The LINQ Promenade in Las Vegas next year.

Slated for release in 2019, "Kind Heaven" marks the first solo album release from the JANE'S ADDICTION and PORNO FOR PYROS frontman since 2001. Conceived by Farrell and produced by Tony Visconti, "Kind Heaven" features Taylor Hawkins (FOO FIGHTERS), Mike Garson (DAVID BOWIE), Matt Chamberlain (SOUNDGARDEN), Chris Chaney (JANE'S ADDICTION), Tommy Lee (MÖTLEY CRÜE), Peter Distefano (PORNO FOR PYROS), Dhani Harrison, Elliot Easton (THE CARS), Joachim Garraud (DAVID GUETTA), and other notable star turns. Sonic highlights include orchestral scoring by Hollywood composer Harry Gregson Willams, striking duets with Etty Farrell, and a first-of-its-kind sound mix by IMN Creative to create an all-new music experience for fans.

Farrell said: "Every concept I've ever had began with music as its bedrock: JANE'S ADDICTION, Lollapalooza and now 'Kind Heaven'. I am energized by my partnership with BMG and their commitment to my music, and to powering it with state-of-the-art technology. 'Kind Heaven' is mixed in Dolby Atmos, binaurally, and, of course, in stereo."

Ahead of the album release, Farrell will be marking the debut live performance of his new band and music at a special concert at the legendary Fillmore Auditorium in San Francisco on December 2, headlining the "Festival Of Lights" benefit in support of the Bill Graham Memorial Foundation.

Story continues after advertisement

Fred Casimir, EVP global recordings, BMG, said: "Perry Farrell has been a ground-breaking force in rock culture for three decades. With Lollapalooza he has been a pioneer in creating new music-based experiences. With 'Kind Heaven', Perry is now taking things on to another level and we are delighted to partner with him on this extraordinary album."

Kate Hyman, the A&R executive overseeing the deal at BMG, said: "Perry Farrell has created a unique and powerful album. Peppered with Perry's optimism shining throughout, His ability to bring his vast concepts to life is absolutely magical. This will certainly be worth the wait."

After dissolving his post-punk band PSI COM in 1984, Farrell co-founded influential pioneers of the Los Angeles underground JANE'S ADDICTION, building a rabid fan base behind their legendary, high-energy shows. The band would go on to release the ground-breaking platinum-certified "Nothing's Shocking", two-times-platinum "Ritual De Lo Habitual", gold compilation "Kettle Whistle" and gold-certified "Strays", among their nine album releases.

Farrell subsequently became frontman and co-founder of PORNO FOR PYROS, whose eponymous debut album reached No. 3 on the Billboard 200, yielding the No. 1 single "Pets", and went on to be certified gold, with "Good God's Urge" following three years later. As a solo artist, Farrell released the compilation "Rev" in 1999, followed by his debut solo album "Song Yet To Be Sung" in 2001. Performing as SATELLITE PARTY, he released the album "Ultra Payloaded" in 2007. Farrell is the co-founder and organizer of Lollapalooza, the renowned global festival brand, as well as an environmentalist and human rights activist.
"Striking duets with Etty Farrell" is about all I need to know.

I don't think Visconti is huge anymore. He produced a Danish band years ago e.g., a band that had nothing going on internationally. But still, I was a bit surprised too

It's a good thing that Perry has the reach of BMG in order to get thousands and thousands of records shipped worldwide, ensuring that the 372 that he sells are spread across the globe.

I hate to admit it, but maybe it’s just the fact that I’m a bit stoned, but parts of that article made me regain a bit of hope and even get a bit excited (until the ‘striking duets’ part.)

I will probably be disappointed, but reading that at leadt made me want to give the whole album a fair chance, without treating it like a novelty, “meme” record upfront.

The presence of some great musicians and, of course, Visconti, is so weird. Has Perry convinced/conned all of them into working in Kind Heaven? Is he such a good conman? Is the music and project actually decent or better?

I don’t know what to think. Help me. The cognitive dissonance is too big for just one little man.

At least there is some effort here. That's better than bitchin' up front about it. I'm curious and will give it a fair chance. My hopes aren't too high though..... Kind Heaven is set to start in Vegas in September '19 wasn't it?? Than the album will probably be released in the months before that so we'll have to be patient for now. Maybe the concert in december will shed some light on how Kind Heaven will be. I'm interested ...not stoked...

Thing is, I’ve liked the Song and Ultra stuff. In fact, much more than Strays, Escape. Prefer new solo Perry than new Janes at this point.

I don't know. 1st of all, what are binaural beats? Second of all, SYTBS is good, but many, many years ago and that's when Perry was still pretty creative. Hopefully it's something that is good. But, Janes will be performing at Kind Heaven. I hope. I still want to see Janes live again.

Perry is good at create expectations, Gobalee, Jubilee, Satellite Party talks about flash mobs, save the world, climate change, satellite connections, disruptive shows...

It will end the same, new songs will be boring and they will play Tahitian Moon and Jane Says, and year later Janes will reform for a new album... :bored:

People agree to work with Perry because he's a legend. He essentially founded Alternative Nation. These are people that have known and respected him for many many years.

That said, I cannot believe that any of you are allowing yourselves to think this might be anything decent.

Have you already forgotten what his solo work is like?

Sex Talk? I Like em Big? Countless other random videos that he's put out that people have posted that I watched 20 seconds of and purged from my memory?

It's beyond awful. Beyond.

There may be one or two tracks that if you don't turn up the volume too loud and kind of half listen to are not horrible. But all in all, this is going to be a shitshow.

I am excited to see how much Etty is involved in this. At least for me this will be entertaining. To quote I like Em Big "she's a singer and dancer and so much more".

Binaural is a recording technique.

Pearl Jam did an album that way in 2000.

Basically, it uses 2 microphones instead of one, to create the sensation that the listener is in the room with the musician, because you can hear the "space" of the room and the way the music bounces around.

Also, those microphones are in the ears of a dummy head.
