It's been 10 years? Holy fuck time flys...but good to know it's been a decade since I was willing to stand in line for hours to a Jane's show and watch them let like 20 people in who weren't Hollywood guest list to Perry and etty...mainly this makes me think of miggy...met him there think he actually got in...good for him

I saw Jane's at the makeup for this fiasco...for free and for the last time ever...with one of my dearest friends who had never seen Jane's, but had loved them since 87

The "Cabinet of Curiosities" was my last Jane's dollar spent...almost 10 years clean and sober of that gutter whore jane

At least Porno For Pyros put out that new record on Record Store Day a few years ago.

Yeah, with Eric back there was hope and there was a hint of the old fire around those Winter LA club shows. I got to La Cita with a friend who was a big Jane's fan but had also never seen them live, waited a few hours but ultimately didn't get in. Remember Miggy sitting in his lawn chair, I think one of the first guys in line all day. Later got in to the El Cid and Echoplex shows in the following months, both epic (if short) shows and was really looking forward to what the band may bring. First sign of trouble was the Trent Reznor sessions and seeing the video clips, it was obvious it wasn't working out. Downhill slide after that.

It's funny, but the best Jane's show I saw the past 10 years was the 2010 free Roxy show with Duff on bass for the last time.

I saw the Echoplex show. I was really, really excited and enjoyed it, but there were signs it wasn't working. I actually liked Klinghoffer's Dot Hacker more. I was with sinep as the next in line at La Cita to get in, or rather the first refused. I didn't see miggy and glad for it. It was a hectic scene...I vividly remember the head bouncer/maybe owner sweating bullets and in full panic mode.

Lol that manager WAS sweating bullets...thought he was gonna need a stretcher lol

Since I didn't get in, my fav part was watching Shepard Fairey (who did that shows poster, which I'm still after...hit me if you have one) slap Andre the Giant stickers everywhere he could reach lol

Saddest part hearing Jane's start their set as I left lol

Yeah, I remember trying to talk myself into seeing them live again with Eric once they toured, but then they did those recordings with Trent and he came out soon after saying he has never been around a more dysfunctional band in his life :lolol: (or something along those lines)

That's when I knew it was over for me. That I would never pay another dime to see them live or for anything new they put out.

That was the last day that the band was backed 100% by everyone.

I'm ever grateful for Barton for saving me a place in line. I got a nice spot up front, and my awkward head-nodding is preserved for the ages on YouTube. Also listened through the door to the soundcheck that included the guys rocking an Ozzy song, instrumentally.

I almost feel bad for having this be a near-perfect night. Almost.

I don't recall the exact chain of events, but as I recall....I was hounding the venue and promoter for ticket information the day before, and the guy promoting the show answered the phone at some point. When I mentioned that I would be driving down from San Francisco the next morning, he said he would put my name on the guest list. He seemed genuine, but a bit puppy-like and I took the offer with a pinch of salt.

Inevitably, the drive down from a mess and I arrived 30 minutes or so before the doors were due to open. Took my place in the woefully long line and text the guy so he could let me know the drill for getting in. He actually came through, and I think I slipped in through the back door (so to speak). Stood right in front of Eric. The stars aligned in a major way that night.

I loved this period. Yes, they were a different band, but the fact of the matter is that they had kind of sucked when I saw them during the 1.0 days. I never thought EA would be back in the fold, so squeezed all I could out of that brief window. I think I saw 12-13 shows in the run, and lapped them all up.

Forget that downtuned, no balls La Cita for a second and focus on what's important: 21 years ago today: Hammerstein ballroom! The most spectacular rock concert the world has ever seen.
