Howbout those shitty remixes of "So What!" that got put out?
I think I win for raising an eyebrow to those back in 1997 ("The fuck is this techno shit?"). All downhill from there.

No but, "Another Soulmate" is probably what really made me check out.

Honestly, I enjoy TGEA for what it is. Gun to my head, I'd still say Jane's is my all-time favorite band, but not current fav, of course. Etty ruined Perry.
A good poll question I'd be interested to see the outcome of from ya'll:
- would you rather Perry died from an OD in late 1997, keeping Jane's legacy intact.
- or lived a reasonably happy life (though shitty output) well into old age.
Anyone that would wish he had OD'd instead of tarnishing his legacy (as more than just a fleeting thought) needs serious, serious mental help.

I would rather have had Perry never met Etty, and just stuck with Porno For Pyros post-1997.

His voice (or lack thereof) is more suited to PFP material, yet he insists on wrecking Jane's songs instead for the cash grab.

The guy doesn't deserve to be dead for his poor choices, but it would have been nice to watch him age gracefully while churning out chill pothead island music, instead of mangling his face with plastic surgery and trying to be a House DJ during the rise of EDM/Dubstep.

Yep. I truly thought they'd do a Jane's reunion here and there for major events but Perry would gracefully age in to a bigger weirdo hippy and make acoustic shit with Peter D in to old age.

hasn't dave been sober for awhile now? he doesnt even smoke cigs anymore. i watch ink master with my mom lol she loves it.

i dont remember when i gave up, but i think it was just a lot of things piling up - perry being embarrassing, the shows all having the same setlists, TGEA sucking.

I fucked up the quotes too. Dn quit, then began smoking again. Someone mentioned watching him trying to sort words and it seemed to be in recent times. I know he was, for some time, but I also know he is/was under some medical procedures with LSD for depression I believe. For a drunk/junkie, ingesting mind altering substances is often a dangerous move

I don’t know if dave is sober or not ... he just talks like someone whosse lips are used to slurring so when he IS sober you still hear a bit of the slur ... like the lip muscle memory isn’t quite there ... just something i noticed from dating a few women with substance abuse issues

I havent' noticed any slurring when listening to Dark matter, he sounds like himself to me. He is skinnier than ever though, dunno if that's a sign he's using again

No.

He mentioned recently that he's been clean for several years. I don't remember the exact number though. 3? 5? Something like that.

He was however experimenting with microdosing under the care of a doctor, to treat his depression/trauma.

I don't think he's doing it anymore, but he had a positive experience.

He's mentioned that he stopped lifting weights and just does yoga now.

I can't find the older tweet about it, but here is a recent one where he mentions it:

Strays and UPSP were half good tmo, TPC was very bad but thinking it was not Jane's, I kept some faith.
TGEA is the one that buried my last hopes.

Dave Navarro was the first traitor to the spirit of the band, playing with Cristina Aguilera, Puff Daddy, Michael Jackson.

Perry was still weirdo bizarre during Enit or even during SYTBS, but Dave was on sale for big bands, RHCP Gun's'Roses and media coverage.

At that time I didn't want to say I liked Jane's Addiction because kids answered me: "Oh yes, Dave Navarro, he's cool".

When i saw Carmen Electra dancing in the True Nature video i knew it was all over.
I never thought i would see a "Baywatch" lifeguard on Janes video, music was ok but it was disgusting to see wives dance like sluts since I had seen the art of Casey Niccoli infused in that legendary band.

Eric tried for Metallica... :noclue:

I can't fault any of them for trying big money gigs...

For me, it slowly decreased after Strays but this is TPC that brought the first nail.
However, I was still interested in what Perry could do (although songs were getting worse and worse)
I also remember having expectations with the 2008 reunion but the shows I saw on YT were pretty boring (OK, except the Sidney gig filmed by Moshcam)
Since that, I don't give a damn shit about their music anymore.
TGEA is simply not what I want to hear. It has never be.
I keep on playing Triple X and GGU.
Only those two.

Wild that he did that but turned down the opportunity to play bass in Tool before they did Aenima.

First crack was getting some live show from Vegas in like 2002 and they did an instrumental Pink Floyd cover and while interesting, I had concerns. Felt like a bloated rock star move

Then I heard Bring the Mood, and the douche chills began.

When they cut the original ending bit of True Nature—I was perplexed, clearly they weren’t making good artist choices.

Strays was way too RAWK for me, drumming was typical and boring...felt like they took all the cred they had and cashed in to be a big rock band....And it only halfway worked...if that.

I followed them, but without fervor

Then it all just went down hill...

Sat Party album cover was a massive warning sign ( again terrible artistic choices )

Perry Doing JA tunes with that band the String Cheese Incident....horrible and sad.

Cabinet Boxset was cool...Reunion was great to finally see Eric with them live...No new tunes was the Final nail for me.

It was obvious they didn’t care anymore Or Perry didn’t...

Now they are a curiosity. Love 1.0 and listening to those shows and albums occasionally...Being a fan was big part of my music identity growing up.

Now, they are just a band I used to love
