Perry Farrell on the Messiah’s Return and the World’s Reaction
Jane's Addiction frontman and Lollapalooza founder goes deep into his new solo album

Jane’s Addiction frontman and Lollapalooza founder Perry Farrell joins Kyle Meredith With… to give a deep dive on his upcoming solo album Kind Heaven. Farrell talks about which Jane’s Addiction and Porno for Pyros members are featured on the record, a track he wrote for Rachel Maddow, the album’s one-of-a-kind mixing technique, and how its themes are rooted in the concept of the return of the Messiah.

Kyle Meredith With… is an interview series in which WFPK’s Kyle Meredith speaks to a wide breadth of musicians. Each episode, Meredith digs deep into an artist’s work to find out how the music is made and where their journey is going, from legendary artists like Robert Plant, Paul McCartney, U2 and Bryan Ferry, to the newer class of The National, St. Vincent, Arctic Monkeys, Haim, and Father John Misty. Check back Monday, Wednesday, and Friday for new episodes. Rate the series now via Apple Podcasts.

Isn't this pretty much a recycled jubilee concept

Sounds like Dave and Perk gave him a hard "NOPE" on KH

Yes.

Kind of shitty that as soon as Dave said "nope", suddenly Peter D got a call to make some music.

So... the one thing that is genuinely kind of interesting about all of this is that the new album will be mixed in Dolby Atmos. The only issue is that you have to have Atmos-compatible hardware to get the full benefit. I have a pretty basic 5.1 setup with a receiver that can do Dolby Digital+, but it's a few years old and it can't do Atmos. I could spring for this $300 entry-level one as a replacement: https://www.cnet.com/reviews/onkyo-tx-nr585-review/ (that's about how much my Onkyo cost) but mine works just fine and I would also have to grab a bunch more speakers and probably upgrade at least my two front tower speakers to really make it worth bothering.

Oh, also, I don't really care for these songs. If he remixed and re-released Song Yet To Be Sung in Atmos? Yeah, I think I might actually pay $30 for that.
