Caesars Entertainment Cancels $100 Million Kind Heaven Project, Per Rumor

We’ll keep this quick and awkward: Kind Heaven has suffered the unkindest of cuts.

Our sources say Caesars Entertainment has informed key employees Kind Heaven, a $100 million attraction slated for the Linq casino, is officially canceled.

It’s likely the demise of Kind Heaven, should our information be confirmed, is fallout from the announced merger between Caesars Entertainment and Eldorado Resorts.

The looming merger has called into question a number of pending projects, and Kind Heaven was considered a risky endeavor from day one.

If you’re unfamiliar with Kind Heaven, here’s the skinny: Kind Heaven was an Asian-themed walk-through attraction with music festival roots.

Oh, and there were supposed to be holographic fighting monkeys. No, really.

Kind Heaven Las Vegas
Think “Blade Runner,” but with more pickpockets. Long story.

The attraction was slated to open in the summer of 2019. So, now-ish. As far as we know, no demolition or construction of any kind has happened related to Kind Heaven.

Here’s more about the former Kind Heaven.

The project was touted as the brainchild of noted oddball Perry Farrell, founder of the Lollapalooza music festival.

As recently as Aug. 1, 2019, Farrell was still talking up Kind Heaven, apparently unaware the plug has reportedly been pulled on the project.

While it would’ve been fun to see Kind Heaven come to fruition, it seemed a trainwreck waiting to happen.

Kind Heaven Las Vegas
There are so many bummed out monks right about now.

Caesars Entertainment has a lot on its plate at the moment, including a consolidation likely to result in a fair amount of corporate employees being laid off as the merger moves forward, so risky investments of time or resources seem best avoided for now.

The holographic monkeys will just have to find other gigs.

On a related note, another casualty of the Eldorado merger is the demise of “Nitro Circus,” announced for Bally’s Las Vegas. The show is rumored to be seeking another venue, but don’t hold your breath.

At least we still have the Kind Heaven Orchestra dinner theater.

I know it's not monkeys, but Perry and Etty drunkenly crashing down onto your plate of green beans and mashed potatoes is pretty close.

Looking back at some of these old threads, and I am kind of surprised how close I was to guessing the Kind Heaven album cover...

No no.

This is Kind Heaven the asian themed restaurant.

Kind Heaven the dinner theater is still fine.

I can't say I'm surprised per se, but I did think it would probably happen once you started seeing the stories in the local Vegas papers and investor announcements.

I'd bet on it.

I wonder if or how much money Perry lost on this.

I knew it was a bad sign when I didn't see kind heaven at lollapalooza available for streaming. No but seriously I doubt Perry invests any money in his own projects.

“Noted oddball Perry Farrell” is almost too accurate.

That article is pretty brutal. I doubt Farrell lost money on the project but I’d bet heavily he and especially Etty was counting on big future $ from this thing and have probably been blowing through what they have with even more abandon then usual. Certainly the current tour isn’t making big money if not running at a loss.

Coincidently, I was at Fingerprints Records in Long Beach today and saw the vinyl release of the album in the Janes section... it looked like a bootleg.

If you get the VIP package, both of them will rub their private parts on the green beans

Agreed lets go- just take the unfinished material that's been lying around and put it out. I can't see how they can tour again without something new

Have you heard the bullshit Trent has been putting out for the last 15 years? :jasper:

I have zero interest in whatever junk Perry has lying around that would be used for any Jane's or Pornos-related project. There's nothing left in the well. Eric and/or Reznor would have better luck making listenable music with Ozzy Osbourne or David Lee Roth.

It's highly doubtful Perry put up any money in the Vegas theater deal, but I'm pretty sure he has some skin in this tour.

I think it's very likely that the rumblings of the project's demise were heard some time ago, and Perry/Etty thought that by bankrolling this tour as a sort of proof of concept/promotional tour they would convince Caesar's that there was a huge demand for Kind Heaven...

"We're just one flash mob viral video away from our dreams!"

Perry: "Say I got the bug!"

What?

Perry: "Say it for the camera. Say I got the bug!"

What is this for?

Perry: "It's for the virus video."

Great, now I can go back to Vegas and not have to think about whether I owe it to the husk of a former hero to check out his silly money grab.

Perry Farrell’s Lollapalooza audience only perks up for Jane’s Addiction covers
https://chicago.suntimes.com/2019/8/4/2 ... grant-park
Lollapalooza was created as a farewell tour to Jane’s Addiction created by the band’s members. This year’s festival was closed out by Perry Farrell’s Kind Heaven Orchestra, headed by the Jane’s Addiction frontman.

While certainly not sparse, the audience couldn’t compare to the throng that was at Ariana Grande’s set across the park. Grande’s performance and the roar of the crowd could be heard by those waiting for the group, which began four minutes behind schedule.

The set was ambitious and busy, with the stage boasting two guitarists, one bassist, one keyboardist, two guitarists, one tambourine player, three background singers — all doing coordinated dance moves — and Farrell covering the lead vocals with his wife, Etty Lau Farrell.

While the musicians were talented and energetic, several would-be big moments fell flat. Farrell entered the audience runway several times throughout the performance, and what should have been a monumental moment felt like repeated attempts to amp up the crowd.

The crowd’s energy picked up, however, when the group performed staples by Jane’s Addiction like “Jane Says” and “Stop.”

While the performance wasn’t bad, the small audience and lack of enthusiasm by the crowd highlighted the domination that younger artists currently have over Lollapalooza.

4 minutes late?

Damn.

I'll bet they had to cut one of the songs from their 8 song headlining set.

Yeah that's it. It's that the crowd prefers younger artists. I'm sure it has nothing to do with the fact that no one gives a shit about Perry anymore. I mean, I'm sure The Rolling Stones themselves would only draw a smattering of people.

Why they didn't invite Pete this year? Not just for play guitar, also for singing, Perry can't sing anymore.

Anyway, if wasn't for Lolla money, this would be the future situation for PerryEtty: busking on some street corner playing some shitty country version of Mountain Song.
