Great, now I can go back to Vegas and not have to think about whether I owe it to the husk of a former hero to check out his silly money grab.

Perry Farrell’s Lollapalooza audience only perks up for Jane’s Addiction covers
https://chicago.suntimes.com/2019/8/4/2 ... grant-park
Lollapalooza was created as a farewell tour to Jane’s Addiction created by the band’s members. This year’s festival was closed out by Perry Farrell’s Kind Heaven Orchestra, headed by the Jane’s Addiction frontman.

While certainly not sparse, the audience couldn’t compare to the throng that was at Ariana Grande’s set across the park. Grande’s performance and the roar of the crowd could be heard by those waiting for the group, which began four minutes behind schedule.

The set was ambitious and busy, with the stage boasting two guitarists, one bassist, one keyboardist, two guitarists, one tambourine player, three background singers — all doing coordinated dance moves — and Farrell covering the lead vocals with his wife, Etty Lau Farrell.

While the musicians were talented and energetic, several would-be big moments fell flat. Farrell entered the audience runway several times throughout the performance, and what should have been a monumental moment felt like repeated attempts to amp up the crowd.

The crowd’s energy picked up, however, when the group performed staples by Jane’s Addiction like “Jane Says” and “Stop.”

While the performance wasn’t bad, the small audience and lack of enthusiasm by the crowd highlighted the domination that younger artists currently have over Lollapalooza.

4 minutes late?

Damn.

I'll bet they had to cut one of the songs from their 8 song headlining set.

Yeah that's it. It's that the crowd prefers younger artists. I'm sure it has nothing to do with the fact that no one gives a shit about Perry anymore. I mean, I'm sure The Rolling Stones themselves would only draw a smattering of people.

Why they didn't invite Pete this year? Not just for play guitar, also for singing, Perry can't sing anymore.

Anyway, if wasn't for Lolla money, this would be the future situation for PerryEtty: busking on some street corner playing some shitty country version of Mountain Song.

That would cut into Etty's stage shoes budget.

(I just typed that jokingly, and then realized Perry probably actually gives her an allowance for stage shoes)

"The $90 MILLION dollar project, “Kind Heaven” is set to open in 2020 and the concept is mind boggling and awesome.⁣🤯
⁣
The project going in at the @LinqPromenade is combining film and holographic special effects to recreate trips through Thailand, Vietnam, Nepal and Hong Kong.⁣🇹🇭🇻🇳🇳🇵🧧
⁣
The experience starts with hopping on a train 🚃near Caesars that takes you to Bangkok at 1 am. Walk through actual night markets, buy food and get all the scents and smells. ⁣
⁣
Next walk through a forest, experiencing the magnificent beauty of Nepal. ⁣
⁣
@perryfarrellofficial, the frontman for @JanesAddiction, #PornoforPyros and the inventor of @Lollapalooza is the brain behind #KindHeaven and also creating the music to enhance the experience of dark and mysterious back alleys, forest temples and beautiful sanctuaries.⁣
⁣
It will be completely immersive entertainment, with no chairs it will be a 90 minute show that allows you to walk through the complex, we will even be allowed to roam freely. Visit nightclubs, eat street style food and find hidden alleyways. ⁣
⁣
There will be actors, musicians, acrobats, comedians and even holographic animals, combining every element into the experience.⁣
⁣
We can expect a family friendly Kind Heaven during the day and an #adultonly one at night. The evening will include street walkers, nightclubs and sake bombs. ⁣
⁣
The talent they have hired to execute is just as incredible.⁣
⁣
Cary Granat, a special effects legend, (produced the #ChroniclesOfNarnia series) is designing the immersive experience, and Ed Jones who worked on #StarWars, #IndianaJones and #ET is designing the visual effects. ⁣
⁣
Now we just get to wait...⁣"

That account seems to just promote various goings on and coming soons in Vegas. But yeah, who knows? I'm guessing it's dead though. Like most of Perry's supposed next big things.

I was just reading on some random Vegas Twitter account that the space that was supposed to host this is completely unchanged.

It pains me less and less every day but I still can't help but wonder what this reunited band could have been had the likes of Carmen Electra and Etty not so heavily influenced 2003 and beyond. Obviously Etty being the main culprit and continously so.

They've obviously known for a long time now that Jane's is just a dead corpse they drag out every so often and so they focus on a bunch of stupid other crap instead.

https://www.caesars.com/linq/promenade/ ... ind-heaven

 I guess they haven't updated the page yet.

The last "News" items that show up when you search Google say it was pushed back to April 2020.

If you add 'canceled' to the search there are the same few sources that say it was axed after the merger (with people commenting that they're not sure the project itself is dead, or what will actually end up happening with the Linq Promenade).

I wouldn't put it past Perry do do a limited run of "Kind Heaven Orchestra" shows rebranded as immersive, with like... some extra lights, and video of monkey knife-fights playing above the stage. :noclue:

Me either. There's no value in it.

For 100 dollars you can see Jane's Addiction do a 12 song set.

Or, for 120 dollars, you can buy a festival ticket. If Jane's is on the bill, you get a 10 song set, plus 20 other bands.
