One of my favorite songs as a kid. Dave and his guitar tech Dan played on it.

The limited edition Ministry book with a 7" of this recording is on sale 40% until May 1, 2020. Still way overpriced, but just in case someone here cares, $90 instead of $150:

That is great!

I never got into Ministry back in the day (just heard some tracks in the 90s and thought hmmmmm...sounds loud :dunce:)

.....and well, just revisited a bunch of tracks.................

Especially:

Love the cartoon associated with the original version...!

Hellfest rarely disappoints!

Has anyone read Jourgensen's autobiography....? Worth the read? :noclue:
Ministry: The Lost Gospels According to Al Jourgensen, was released in July 2013

The other day I got really high and listened to their version of "Lay Lady Lay" for the first time and it blew my mind.

Love Ministry...but they've haven't recorded anything of quality since the 90s. They were untouchable from '88-'92 (side projects included), However, I'm open to any recommendations of stuff I may have overlooked in their post-Warner career. I recently scored a bunch of Ministry reissues on coloured vinyl.

Ohhhhhhhh shit.....I am 30 years late to this party... :scared: :worship:

There is so, so, so, so much to this controlled chaos....holy shit. :blah:

I felt the same way in 2010 about KJ, which is still on heavy rotation, most all the albums and a ton of live stuff......

I am really looking forward to digging in here. Definitely getting my hands on all the albuns up to 96 or so. I even love the first one....so different.

Any rexomendations on great live shows....? I assume the above one is a gem....I gotta figure out how to get it..... :noclue:

:wiggle: :bored:

Always loved this one:

It was mayhem on the dancefloor when I played this one in the clubs back in the day.

Ministry was nominated for a Best Metal Performance Grammy for Bad Blood. Was this a career highlight?

“[Laughs again] Man, I didn’t even go. I couldn’t care less. Those awards shows are so political – and completely rigged anyway. When you get nominated they send you this medallion that says you’ve been nominated, along with your invite. I was sitting alone in this bar in Chicago, this crummy little dive bar with crap on the screen behind the bar. There was this fat chick that just kept bothering me, saying, ‘I know who you are, I know who you are,’ and so on. I was so annoyed. I was like, ‘If I give you this shit medallion will you just fucking go away?’ So I wound up giving my Grammy medallion away to a fat chick.”

Al seems like a dick from interviews and Barkers opinion of him....but, wow.

It's like KJ II.....so much going on here.

I never really liked NIN when they came about, but wanted to, they seem like the Green Day equivalent compared to this..... :noclue:

Nah. During Ministry's artistic peak (again, 1988-1992...including side projects), they were a force to be reckoned with. But Trent Reznor is the real deal, always has been...and his longevity/legacy blows Ministry's out of the water. They had a great 10 years or so...but Trent is on a level that Al isn't. Al is total self parody now and has been quite a while. I'd say Al is Iggy to Trent's Bowie.

Yeah....guess I would agree with that. Green Day is the wrong comparison....Reznor(NIN) -> Al (Ministry/side projects) ... is more like a... Vedder(PJ) -> Perry(JA/Porno).

Vedder has a better legacy, but the explosion at the time is so much more white hot with Perry/JA.

Iggy/Bowie is another good one.

Yeah, Bowie is the real deal. But you see footage of him back in the day trying to swoon Warhol/VU/Reed and those folks, just like he's got the potential for talent and genius, just searching for it, and finds it and then cultivates it. Warhol/VU were out and out, doing whatever the fuck, from the beginning. I don't know how to explain it. There was no cultivation involved, just an explosion of whatever the fuck.. I guess that aspect really intrigues me....
