I would happily go see them your with RHCP. That's about the only worthwhile circumstance I can think of. Just because of the history between the two bands.
Why?
What do you think you're going to see that will be worthwhile?
This is an honest question and not me just being my usual grumpy self.
Are you super looking forward to hearing Dani California? A whisper quiet version of Whores with PEW PEW PEW?
Some bands just stop being worth their ticket price. If they are going to play the same setlist as 8 years ago and play it worse than they did then, why are you going? For the reminder to not buy tickets again till 4 years from now when you'll say "ok, well, maybe this one last time" AGAIN?
Motley Crue, Poison, and Def Leppard just ripped off a million people who think they are going to relive their glory days in the 80s by going to this show for an evening where all they are going to see is strained vocals, fat old men, and 17 dollar beers they will complain about. Right before they say "Well it wasn't 89, but I guess I'm glad I went one last time"
There's old bands worth seeing. These aren't those.
For the same reason I saw them with Eric despite being over them. It was Jane's with Eric. For the same reason I saw them on the Escape tour. It was Jane's in the small theater I'd always wanted to see them in. It would be enough of one of those "just the right circumstance" to get me off the couch. But that's just me.
I'd also probably sit way in the back so I couldn't see Perry.
Name me one old band/artist that is still worth checking?
Killing Joke.
I know Panda and I keep flogging it to death (or it just feels like it?) but after 40 years, they are still so, so good. And SO relevant.
Their new stuff is good, but they don't/can't integrate into their set, but that's alright.
I've only seen them like 3 or 4 times in the last 10 years, and would travel the west to see them if they were in a small club within 500 miles....
Yeah, and Faith No More

FNM, Ministry, and KJ all still put on pretty good shows.

Yeah well, not saying that FNM don't put up a good show (I would go and see them - I will btw this summer), but don't tell me it's the same as it used to be.
I didn't see them in the 90's but a mate of mine did, and he put it like this.
Seeing FNM in the 90's was like dynamite, seeing them now is like a fire cracker (this was at a show a few years ago).
I saw the Pixies and I thought they were extremely boring. But apparently they've always been boring so I'll give you that ;)

Who'd want the same show 30-40 years later from their favorite band?
Isn't that what we are arguing against?
A fire cracker may even be better than dynamite. The band is in top form, still passionate and know what they are doing.

Old bands that still are OK:
Jesus and Mary Chain, Echo and the Bunnymen, Peter Hook. I'm seeing the Go Gos this summer!

See, but would you be excited to see them? I think that's the point of the question. Like you WANT/expect to see a great show from a 30/40 year old band.
And even if generally enjoyable not just going for nostalgias sake.

I'd be excited to see Echo and the Bunnymen in a small venue near my home. I'd be excited to Janes (if they have a damn good new EP), in a small venue near my home. Wilco is the only band that I still travel for and very much still get excited for.

See, so the answer is no for you. Small venue near my house doesn't count.
And when I saw your janes comment, I spit up my coffee.....
What if I said that I saw Nirvana in '90/91 at a scuzzy club in Portland, and no, not the infamous show at Satyricon where Kurt supposedly met/tackled Courtney at the show. And that I remember the show rather sucked.
What would that do for you?

Maybe Eric went public again with something that really pissed Perry off. If so, we'll have a new album by September.
Tracklist for Jane's Addiction's new album "Extravaganza":
Extravagant Days
GroovyLoveDanceParty (feat. Nuno Bettencourt)
The Four Stringed Imposter
No More Lies!
Under the Knife
Heroin(e) (Song for an Asian Girl)
I'll Hit You Back Again
The Great Band Dictator
Backstabber (She Was My Girl)
All Tomorrow's Parties Today
Bonus Track: Jane Says (Reggae-Rave-Steel-Drum Remix)

Then I'm more jealous of Panda seeing Guns n roses at small clubs
Saw footage of a pre nevermind nirvana show, and it kinda rocked ... So, wondered if someone on this board had seen em ....
Heard the stores of early Guns, Janes, Van Halen but no one has mentioned Nirvana.

I looked to see if I could find the show, but found this instead, near the same time period, and about what I imagined it being/sounding like..... kinda crap.
This is what someone said about this show who was there:
Wow. I was at this show, and Kurt's vocals were never very audible. I remember the sound person was AWOL the entire set. This occurred at a grange hall out in the sticks on Steamboat Island on a soaking wet January night. Nirvana was sandwiched between Beat Happening and the Melvins. A beautiful mess it was.
I think we all put too much emphasis on what we think things were or could have been. It has more to do with what you had for breakfast that day, where you're at in your life, if you're seeing someone you really love, if you are in the dumps, etc. Guess the trick is to just imagine it always being good, or alright, and strive for a similar future.

It always seemed like I had something going on the few times Nirvana played LA. The only show I almost went and saw was the In Utero tour notorious day before ‘93 NYE show at the LA Forum but my whiny girlfriend at the time didn’t want to go.
Name me one old band/artist that is still worth checking?
Nick fuckin' Cave would like a word.
I think Depeche Mode is still worth checking out...also, The Church,Garbage, The Cure, Gary Numan(he is better than ever!). That's all that comes to mind at the moment that hasn't already been mentioned.

jane's 2020. they should call it the "UNINSPIRED TOUR".
who would've thought jane's addiction, once the coolest band,
would turn into a slow-playing, boring gay white-bread college bro jock rock group like stone temple pilots.
i think at this point stone temple with a dead singer would blow old man jane's off the stage.
sad & pathetic.. fuck off fake jane's!
so fucking boring.
"JANE SAAAAAAAYS" fuck off already!

STP is pretty cringe...yet butt rock millennials think they’re rock legends.
