Some new cool photos on Casey’s Facebook

She’s shared a whole load of photos by a (British?) photographer (I think from Melody Maker) called Kevin Westenberg). He shares some interesting stories, not least one about editing out the windmills from the shot that ended up on the NS inside cover.

Really good stories of the band. Casey I think recently just broke up with her boyfriend; she seems to be opening up a bit...
I would really like to get a book from her. She played with the idea many years ago, but it fizzled out.

Great photos from Kevin too. The Nothing Shocking shoot in pretty sick. I love old photos of the band 86'-89'

Yeah, I saw that.

People started asking where the Ritual sculpture is now...with someone claiming it's in Perry's house...which I'm 90% sure is inaccurate. I thought it was in storage or a landfill. Anyway, I'm pretty sure someone posted a pic of it (appearing damaged) in recent years on this board or at xiola.org. Does anyone have it?

It was around 2017 or 2018 I think? It was found in a storage unit in LA.

Looking for that pic, though...of the damaged/aged sculpture.

Ahhhh, photos are so good. Casey is the only remaining anchor to the 1.0 dignified legacy.

I'm not sure there's ever been anything cooler than Jane's 1.0

I think we had a convo a while back about that NS shoot, using the windmills as an identifier of its location.

Dan (guitar tech) found it in storage

Interesting Casey comment on FB..
I started playing guitar when I was 8 years old. When I met Perry I though he was such a bright star and his energy was infectious. I didn’t know how to support my own art but I easily fell into the role of supporting his. I taught him how to play basic chords and he practiced hard until he was able to write the basic chords to all of his own songs. We were able to create together quite well and we played songs together at home but I was so involved in every aspect of his career that when I was given the opportunity to play in the band we fought constantly. I chose to step away because I loved him and didn’t want to lose him. It was the beginning of many sacrifices that I would make for him over the years including not taking credit for my own art, etc.

Yeah I think I saw a Marc Marron interview with Etty/Perry recently where they eluded to that. A former girlfriend was given the opportunity to sing or something but backed out of it.

Thank God! Can you imagine if Casey was actually in Jane's on stage as a backup singer during 1.0. It would be an entirely different history.

Boy if that photo doesn't perfectly represent what happened to this band's legacy, I don't know what does.

I thought the same thing. Kind of a grim reminder that nothing lasts forever, no matter how amazing it is.

Her art and writings are  Casey should record an album.
