This may be the closest thing we ever get to a book that visually documents the original Jane's Addiction in all their spectacle and glory. Chris Cuffaro has just released a "catalog" of his Jane's Addiction photos. He shot the band in 1990-1991 and 1997.

8.25×8.25 | 109 Pages | 100 Images | Softcover

"Chris spent 2+ years shooting Jane’s Addiction as much as he could. He shot the band for magazines, record labels and for fun. He shot live shows, backstage and studio sessions. He was at the first Lollapalooza in Arizona and the 'Last Show' in Hawaii. This catalog covers it all. Some of his favorite moments with his favorite band. All catalogs are signed by Chris Cuffaro."

Those are pretty cool.

20 years ago, I’d have bought that book. Now I’m too burned out and cynic to care enough.

If Etty's not on the centre pages spread eagle I won't be buying it either.

I get it...but I still want it. I try to ignore all the bullshit and just focus my attention on the glory days...much like Star Wars or something.

Not in this book. But I think the new Perry box set has what you're looking for.

I'm actually tempted by the book. I have been coming across quite a lot of vintage JA photographs on Instagram recently, some of which I had never seen before, and it's been....really nice. Perhaps a strange choice of words, but it's helpful to reconnect with the memory of who and what I fell in love with. Looking at photos of the band from the last couple of decades has become perilous as Perry has morphed, so a book from this era kind of nails it. Particularly given that some of these images are so iconic.

As an aside, it was interested to come across the original photo of the band used for the back NS - with windmills in the background, before they were airbrushed out for the album artwork. Again, such an iconic image, and peculiar to see it as it was. I'd certainly never clocked it, if I had seen it before.

Ya that is tempting...honestly...I think I'm gonna survive without it but damn a lot of those photos ended up on silver boots cover art....wish the book was larger

That's the thing...it'll get looked at once and then become stuff that sits on a shelf....

Had never seen these until recently....you'd think Perry had borrowed someone's clothes.

Funny Dave is playing an actual Fender Tele there. Not sure I've seen that.

I was 9 when my dad got me Nothing's Shocking. I was super reluctant to listen to it because of the name and cover art and tried to stop him from buying it by pointing out the explicit content sticker...

At that age I was super into liner notes and I'd pore through them with every CD we got. That picture confirmed to me that this band was faggy, for lack of a better word, and weird and at the ripe age of 9, I didn't want to listen to a band that looked like THAT. Took me about five listens through that album to stop hating it. I think Oceansize or Had a Dad was what finally clicked. Now I look at that photo and I'm amazed by how cool they once were and how far they've fallen.

The first time I saw that picture inside the NS booklet I was thrilled by how weird it was. Which really reminds me what turned me on so much about this band. And what went away. They were really fucking weird, but not just for the sake of it. It felt very genuine and not completely over the top. Now this guy is releasing shit called Glitz and Glamor.

I've seen him playing a Tele for Kettle Whistle. I believe that he had that tuned to drop D for that song. I think there's a Detroit '88 show that kicks off with it, and you can see him playing it. It looks like a Blue Paisley ..... anyway that was a great song.

The book looks cool, will probably order it.
