I thought Pets was meh and Kim was fun. Hope we get to see the rest of this backyard performance eventually, but will probably just be another thing to add to the list of stuff the fans would like that never happens.
When is Jane's? Will they get a real set or just a couple songs like this?
And hopefully this breaks the seal on P4P doing stuff. Just shit out that 3rd album already, why not? nothing matters anymore
At least it would be interesting to get those 4 songs released as an EP on Spotify. I mean, they are already recorded and everything

Whatever happened to P4Ps Little Me and Aqua...weren't they recorded several years ago?

I couldn't watch. Wonder if the performance will show up on YouTube? Did anyone capture it?

Well, this has me putting on GGU for the first time in awhile. Criminally under appreciated album.

It’s such a cohesive piece. Perry’s lyrics were gold and his voice was on fire. Like Janes, I wish they could have kept it going for one more album. I thought they recorded wildlife and the jungle for background stuff for a followup but alas, yet another one of many let downs. Maybe it was best for it to go that way.

Ritual and GGU were the Perry albums that had the biggest influence on me as a teenager. I had just moved to the beach when GGU released and remember on release day driving around high by the ocean while the sky drizzled lightly, listening to the album in full repeatedly. I was so content and so impressed by the cohesion, as you put it. It had such a great, trippy vibe. I thought that we would get mellow, trippy albums from Perry from then on.

Along those lines, I always felt like SYTBS (while not nearly as impressive as GGU) had some of the same DNA. And was another moment where I thought we might see Perry's future output defined. Sort of a Bjork like approach to his solo work. His incredible songwriting ability was on full display there. The title track would not have sounded out of place on GGU, lyrics aside.

And with that, I have another album im in the mood to revisit in full.

Such a shame that just a short time later he was doing the goofy shit we saw start up in 2003. Even in 2001 they were a band you were still proud to talk about being a fan of.

I put on both albums last night and sat down with my guitar. So much going on instrumentally. Crazy sounds , instrumentation and parts to deceivingly simple chord progressions. Cool guitar tones, odd trumpets, harmonicas, bongos and percussion, samples, electronics. Forgot how much I loved those albums. Great work of art.

I have been listening to GGU nonstop for the last month as some way of pacifying my need to travel, so the timing of this was particularly welcome. For me, it's the last of Perry's great work I never saw them on the tour for it, so it's always left a void. I refuse to go and see Perry perform anymore, but PPF would be the one exception. The performance was short, but whilst Perry was the obvious weak link, it wasn't cringeworthy. That's about all one can hope for, at this stage. That he not fuck it up. This worked....or worked well enough. I would actually be excited for more....then again, this is the longest I have not been to a gig for since I was 16. Desperate times....

For me GGU and Kettle Whistle was the tap running dry...they both failed to raise the bar...but they were both good and had great moments...that era is almost 25 years ago...wtf Perry...a psi com box set and bugging Pete and Mike...make some new shit and bury the past

Brilliant album indeed. Albums came out on tuesdays in those days. Remember? But Indie record stores would sell them to you on Saturday. I was in amagansett ny and there was a very cool record store in east Hampton (next to the great bookstore called bookhampton) and they sold it to me. Listened all day and all the ride home to NYC Sunday night. Louder each time until, going thru the midtown tunnel, it was cranked to deafening pitch. I believed then that all was good in my Jane’s loving world. First album had been okay and shows had been trippy and punk rock and generally pretty great. This seemed like hitting their stride. Shows for GGU were trippy and different and poor Watt had to wear a skirt. Then it ended. But GGU will always be top shelf.

Also, with love, especially to the old schoolers here from xiola days, anyone who says these two songs were anything but great is fucked. Put away whatever disappointment or amusement or bemusement of all these years. Once were warriors. First Lolla was warrior shit. This moment is why we listen.

PF sang well. Original key for both songs?

Wear a mask, Pete.

Thank you all whom I’ve known and not known for all these years in this tiny world of JA cyberspace. We’re a little bit of a community today. I love you all.

Cool setting and performance.

But am I the only one thinking Perry is singing out of key?

Now awful. This might be the best sound mix ever: drumsticks on rim at 200%, voice at 150%, guitar at 30% and bass at 8%. Just like P4P of yore.

I listened to it too yesterday, after quite a while. I take back that Wishing Well and Thick of It All aren't good songs. I must've just overplayed them at some point or didn't connect with them, but yesterday I was glad to hear them.

I get it. They were my least played tracks from that album. But they are very lyrically strong. They read like early Jane's songs to me. I wonder when Perry wrote the lyrics to both. And yes, I think they hold up well.

Not one for band tees but been down in the UK west country for the past few days - living in shorts and slaps and messing around in the ocean... very PFP mood so took one along. Wore it today and got a "love that fucking band" comment from another 40-something...

Go online and find this has just happened! Hope it leads somewhere but doubt it very much. Regardless, loved Pets and Kim - magic.

Funny...in my 30s, I went through a long period where I felt too dignified for band tees...but now that I’m in my 40s, they’d made a resurgence in my life and I don’t care what anyone thinks. Just got this...

Same. Too funny. By 30 I thought they were very childish. Now I'm 41 and buying them again.

last month i bought a band tshirt for the first time in probably 20 years. the band sold it to help their crew because of the tour cancellation so that is why i bought it but i've worn it a few times.

So today we have Jane's Addiction at Lolla20.
And before, Perry's tribute to Bowie w/Mike Garson (Bowie's long time pianist).

The recent pic of the original lineup on Perk's Instagram does have me wondering if there is a teeny tiny chance that Eric is with them. Or it's just a tactic to get the hardcore fans to tune in. Could you imagine if this led to a third act for the original lineup? Too little, too late, I know.
