I just saw a statement from Perry. Apparently Dave is dealing with long covid.

I wonder how much will be actual P4P. This would seem to indicate they've done some rehearsing right? I'd be far more interested in that club tour than Jane's in arenas (or at all).

“The gang and the government are no different. That makes me 1%. Rockville, although we are blue that Jane’s cannot be with you at this time due to Dave’s long bout with COVID, I am still coming to Daytona, bringing to you for the first time in 26 years Porno For Pyros Featuring myself, Perry Farrrell, Stephen Perkins, Peter DiStefeno and Mike Watt. We’ll play some Jane’s songs for you as well, but for now let’s recall: My boat’s capsized it’s gonna sink to the bottom. I can see the lights on the shore…” – Perry Farrell

Whatever the reason/motivation for them to actually be playing, this was kind of cool...until the threat of covering JA songs. Trust Perry to fuck it up. I get it's a festival and they want to give people what they thought they were getting, but it does a disservice. Classic Perry to cheapen a good idea.

I’m fine with P4P doing some Jane’s stuff

Mountain Song
Jane Says
Summertime Rolls?

But this is very exciting. Bummer for Dave — hope he gets better

Hod bless, Pete. He’s been waiting by the phone for that call for 26 years.

I try to avoid disagreeing with any full throated Perry bashing around here. The dude’s asked for it in so many ways and if one has to choose love versus hate for today’s Perry Farrell, i get it. I don’t really agree, because in fact the opposite of love is indifference, and in my view current Jane’s/PF engenders far more indifference than hate. I’m not as fucking great as i was in 1988 either. But i digress.

Here i have to disagree (with utter respect to a true old timer around here) - calling out Perry for fucking it up because of Jane’s covers isn’t fair at all. First, as acknowledged, it’s a festival that had JA on it, so people want and will dig Jane Says. But more to the point, P4P often blew the roof off with a JA cover. I personally caught Mt. Song. My Time. I Would For You. Setlist.fm adds summertime, Jane says and chip away to that list.

Perry may have blown it as a generational performer whom most people here dug as much as any other. But he’s not the devil. His politics are good. He’s funny. And he had that moment where he was the best.

I’m not going to fucking Florida for some metal fest, but I’d love to see this set. Hope someone livestreams it or something.

Saw Devo last night. There’s a band that was among the GOATs and still is. De-Evolution is real, spuds.

Oh also, Pete’s a legend. Happy for him and hope he has the time of his life and a sweet payday. Dude deserves whatever good things can come his way.

All fair points. I generally err on the side of indifference when it comes to Perry, now, rather than bashing. The expectations are non-existent; I am thankful for the past and surprised by anything he might scrape together in the present. My point here is that they have waited for decades to play a full show - too long, some might say - it's a shame they are not doing it properly. Porno For Pyros is just about the only thing Perry can do that might pique my interest, at this point. So to have that watered down by virtue of having them cover JA (when JA has essentially become a cover band of itself) neuters much of any excitement this might stir up in me. Then again, I am not a Floridian festival goer, so the point is moot - I am sure the natives who were excited to hear JA 'anthems' will be delighted with whatever they get.

And fully agreed on Pete - I hope this might prompt a few proper headline shows where they play their own material and leave Jane's Addiction to cover themselves elsewhere.

The lyric in that vid sounds like Perry's theme song from the 90's in Porno for Pyros. I thought of what the song may sound like if
Porno for Pyros rewrote the music, to hear the same lyric of the chorus sung by Perry.

It's become obvious while following that Instagram that it's run by a fan.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and guess this every 5 years or so edition of a talked about P4P reunion is yet again not going to happen.
seems to be official with these pics. :noclue:

Been appraising P4P tonight and came across these songs. I’m guessing people have heard them? I knew they worked on Streets of Fire right before strays but had no idea it was actually released. Dominator is awesome

I'll piggyback on the well wishes for Pete. I think he'll crush it too. And I hope any benevolence PF might have left kicked in and Watt and Pete see a nice chunk of change.

Thoughts/hope on set list.
Cursed Female
Bad Shit
Pets
Packin' 25
Hard Charger/Mountain Song (Not a ton of time to recruit and practice with a clarinet)
Tahitian Moon
Kimberly Austin
Dogs Rule the Night
Thick of it All

If you watch the video I posted Perk talks about there being another guitar player added for the show and no one else.

They could play Hard Charger (doubt it though) with the clarinet parts being done by the extra guitar player?
