Interesting that Garbage has been opening for Alanis as of late. Eric not playing with either of them should’ve been our first clue.

Are you posting this because Eric used to play in garbage? I'm confused.
Yes. A session player can be there, but Eric was with Garbage live almost non-stop from 2005. I thought he was going to do both things
I'm fairly certain he is not played with them much over the past however many years. I remember seeing that garbage was coming through St Louis a few years ago and looking to see if Eric had been playing with them and he had not.

But Eric played all the 2022 concerts from Garbage. And from these posts of the last month, he's still with them too. There are not Jane's officially informed dates apart from the SP's ones, so...

My bad…not a band I pay attention to.

Me either.... just another layer I guess, the speculation has been slow, for the past few days.... I'm sure it doesn't really make a difference who plays the bass in Garbage, does it? A band like that, it could be anyone, right?

It will be another bass player. That band has toured for stretches without Butch Vig and one of the guitar players since 2012. They don’t need to rely on a touring member to play shows. Plus the Garbage account has been liking Janes content here and there

I just realized Eric has/had been with Garbage for a solid decade straight- that’s crazy

Yes. I saw them live, and they rely a lot on him (sound-wise speaking). It was almost like seeing Garbage's Addiction, as you could actually *hear* Jane's presence there. He adds his own signature sound to the band, in contrast to the typical "touring members" of some groups.

Agreed. I saw him twice with them and even though they have him in back he has his own presence. Never understood why opted to be a touring musician when he more to offer.

Also side note- are there still plans for your book to be translated?

He was there last August when I went. It was like $10 tickets and I was so sick of not doing anything b/c of Covid I went mainly for Garbage. Skipped Cat Power, and stayed for most of Alanis.

He was at the recent shows I’ve checked out online, it’s always neat to see him, I just don’t think that that band is here or there, with or without him. They’re probably nice people, and it’s a sweet gig, but it’s Garbage, at the end of the day, that radio band, I’m sure they’ll be fine. And for us, probably nothing to worry about, I would guess…

Only in Spanish for the short/mid term. I'm writing another book for 2023 (investigative journalism this time, not music related). So let's see. Thanks for asking

The Smashing Pumpkins announced something for Sept 19. Maybe a single before the tour?

We can never have nice things with this band. If Dave is not at these rehearsals and the tour starts in two weeks, then that is a bad sign.

My guess is Dave is the one taking the picture on Eric’s insta.

Two weeks from now we are all gonna be grinning. No need to worry that its gonna be gilby and the use your illusion backup singers.

On second thought…

Again, Dave is either seriously ill (with long Covid or something much worse), dealing with relapse/rehab, seriously depressed, has bad blood with Perry or Eric…or he’s totally trolling us. We’ll find out in due course.

Come on, should we believe they're rehearsing the songs without the guitarist?
Me too I think it's Dave taking the pictures, they are having fun playing the "missing Dave" game.

It would be a fraud to sell the tickets as original line up by announcing Gilby Clarke the day befor, they would officially lose their last ounce of credibility.

Eric and Perkins rehearsed on their own before NINJA, I remember Eric tweeting about it. They probably require more rehearsal than anyone else because Dave and Perry just do their thing over the top.

Hopefully it's just trolling.

I don't think it is entirely though. Before members started mentioning Dave's conspicuous absence and detachment from JA activity things seemed off. An intentional trolling campaign organized by Dave seems unlikely to me, but it does appear to be working; we are talking and speculating and generating low- key Dave buzz..

It's a stretch to think they are trolling 30 people from a website with a lengthy distraction that suggests mental or physical health issues. Something is definitely going on with DN, but after 30 years of playing the same short set, he's the Iverson of music. My hope is that he's around enough to accessorize any new material being worked on. And of course, there's nothing seriously wrong with him.

Exactly.

And it wasn't until there were discussions of him being sick that we started speculating.

I guess maybe they’ve done it for so long they know the songs like the back of their hands and don’t feel they need extensive rehearsals?

Idk what to think- the Janes account shared a pic of Dave yesterday, he in their profile pic but he doesn’t acknowledge anything…

He did share stories of himself recording back in the summer and I’m thinking he may have already added his parts to some songs
