ERIC IS BACK!
Re: ERIC IS BACK!
Since Eric is back I was going to post a smilie of him. I don't even think there is one. There's one for Guy Fieri.

Re: ERIC IS BACK!
Much as I love Bauhaus, I can't say they've maintained any sort of "recapturing of their early form" since the original 1998 reunion. They put out one basically incomplete, messy album in 2006 to date and their tours the past 25 years are basically nostalgia runs. It's a testament to the original songs and the overall musical talent of the band that they still remain a mostly great live experience but you can say that about any number of still touring 70's-80's bands. I mean, even The Cult and Iron Maiden still put out the occasional new studio album and play the new stuff when they tour.ESY wrote: ↑Thu Aug 25, 2022 12:42 pmbauhaus
I really think it depends on how humble and open Perry is to Eric's ideas. Is Perry ok w/ Eric saying to him - we/you can do better? Jane's deserves more than writing Another Soulmate and slapping a Jane's sticker on it.
Eric knows to his core what Jane's should sound like and be.

Re: ERIC IS BACK!
It sounds like your criteria is purely based on your own personal preference…which is fine, but I’m trying to site bands that have objectively maintained their artistic integrity (whether I’m a fan or not). All of the artists I listed have received high critical praise for their latter work. In the case with Nick Cave, his recent albums have received universal critical acclaim, with scores in the high 90s on Metacritic. That’s pretty much unheard of for an artist who’s been around as long as him.
Re: ERIC IS BACK!
I was wondering that too, does it have to be a band that completely fell off for a while then made a comeback or one that maintained.

Re: ERIC IS BACK!
Soundgarden broke up for like a little over a decade and came back and didn't miss a beat. It CAN be done but Perry has gone and messed with his face and teeth & prances around looking like Don Knotts cousin from Vegas...I was with it in 97, 01 & even 2008 & I'm sorry if we were going to see them do anything even closely comparable to their glory days we would have by now
Re: ERIC IS BACK!
Porno played a few great shows. Not sure why Jane's wouldn't be able to as well.Essence_Smith wrote: ↑Fri Aug 26, 2022 12:44 pmSoundgarden broke up for like a little over a decade and came back and didn't miss a beat. I saw Bauhaus at Cruel World Festival this past summer and by all accounts they stole the show. I've seen them a bunch of times over the last couple decades and I don't think they've been better. Granted no new music but...hooboy they were good.Pandemonium wrote: ↑Fri Aug 26, 2022 10:47 amMuch as I love Bauhaus, I can't say they've maintained any sort of "recapturing of their early form" since the original 1998 reunion. Right. I'd say he did a pretty good job though at those shows. Look, I'm as down on him as anyone, but I give credit where its due.Essence_Smith wrote: ↑Fri Aug 26, 2022 2:02 pmI'm not talking about the BAND...I'm talking about Perry Lau Farrell and his antics...the man is totally goneHokahey wrote: ↑Fri Aug 26, 2022 1:12 pmPorno played a few great shows. Yeah he did ok but the live shows aren't the thing I worry about...it's the fact that homie is COMPLETELY out of touch and has put out some mediocre at best material for years now...I don't know what the hell Kind Heaven is but my instincts are telling me stay awayHokahey wrote: ↑Fri Aug 26, 2022 2:04 pmRight. Re: ERIC IS BACK!
Saw them recently in LA and in SF. They were fucking amazing live. Intense. And their last album gets better with each listen. Not amazing, but fits in with their back catalogue. And their latest one off (hopefully not) single is pure bauhaus.rickpoet wrote: ↑Fri Aug 26, 2022 1:23 pmI saw Bauhaus at Cruel World Festival this past summer and by all accounts they stole the show. Thats thing, Perry is out of touch so can Eric reel him back in.
Re: ERIC IS BACK!
If Queens of the Stone Age decided to come back they might be one after a hiatus
Re: ERIC IS BACK!
It is easy to be missed when you are not there.
At least Perry was around.
Can"t say the same for Eric.
I hope he'll stay long enough for us to enjoy his greatness, but I wouldn't swear it 'll happen.

Re: ERIC IS BACK!
Speaking of Eric - if he came back because Dave is ill, then the silence surrounding his return could make more sense. You would think they'd have made a bigger deal of it to promote the tour.

Perry at the Metro show this past July was probably the closest to old Perry I’ll ever see. I was astonished. He did nothing cringey or anything that gave off “your uncle trying to be cool vibes”. I would go so far to say he even treated that show differently from the big lolla gig they did less than 24 hours later.

Re: ERIC IS BACK!
Totally. It kind of struck me odd from the get-go that they are using a band photo from 2009. Usually when things like this are launched, there’s a lot more spectacle and such. And the contracts are usually signed many months before…sometimes even a year or two in advance.
Re: ERIC IS BACK!
Regarding the Soundgarden reunion- Cornell had made questionable decisions solo wise (I.e. the scream record), and it was amazing to me how he was able to just “turn it on” when he came back to the band.
I’m not that concerned about the new material- last time around they did not block out time to carve out songs, and this time they are so I really feel like we’ll get something cool. I also hope it’s a full record- I don’t just want a few songs with Eric, I want them to just go for it so they can do an album cycle and do it right. It would not surprise if they do a tour at some point and play a set with songs they didn’t do with Eric during NINJA- that’s the dream at least

Yeah Iron Maiden. Thats rock n roll at it's purest form.

If only you guys could have seen my tapestries and albums at the time. You would have been impressed.

Gary Numan
He regularly tours and puts out albums. The last few have been pretty good, imo. His live shows are FANTASTIC! He plays a lot of his new music and mixes in a few fan faves. It's not like other bands who have to rely on the hits to draw the crowds. I've been a fan since I heard Cars in 1980 or whenever it was released. I was in 7th grade and thought it was so cool.

AC/DC.
I don't listen to them often but I appreciate their career longevity, they don't disappoint you. They do not change.
Shot in the Dark is a great track, at their seventies still have fun like kids.
It's like catching up with an old friend from high school drinking a beer together and it seems like time has never passed.
In a fast changing world they give you a reassuring feeling.

Re: ERIC IS BACK!
How long has Perry been talking about new Jane’s Addiction music?
Is there a timeline? I feel it’s gotta be like a year and half? Or am I totally wrong and first he mentioned was this summer?

Dave is definitely still in but if Josh did do it, he would be the only guy to play in Jane’s, RHCP and Pearl Jam which is badass.
Interestingly enough he did this back in May

How is it possible that Josh can play the most beautiful cover of I Would For You but not know the lyrics to Jane Says? That’s super freaky
