Like I said I have daughter's around that age & generally when you do...you tend to look at these things a little differently...
I have a daughter too. And four nieces. But I think consenting adults can do whatever they want. Dave’s wife/partner/girlfriend is 29 years old; I’m not going to infantilize her.
Of course they can do what they like, but clearly this man has had issues with long term relationships in his time and we love his talent etc but he's got his demons. I brought it up because I'm not sure how I personally feel about it or how I'd feel if my kid came home with a man 10 years older than me. But I see not a damn thing has changed around here & mofos tend to just be contrarian for the sake of it. Let's continue talking about what we actually DON'T KNOW about Dave.
And you're still high strung as fuck.
Brother if we can speculate about IF a guy is using or not, but don't question his choices in women DECADES younger than him I dunno but imo it tends to kinda go hand in hand...and I'm fine I just forgot how flip cats are without actually saying ANYTHING worth saying
You just seem to be getting irrationally upset about a pretty mundane conversation. We're all just here bullshitting. No one attacked you. Just disagreed with you.

If I was a rock star and could bang gorgeous younger women, I would. No question. Certainly would before fucking Etty 😜

Lack of Jane’s ( one of his favorite bands )

Or Perry or Dave was weird.

But maybe Foos got Chaney in the divorce ?
I suspect this is the case.

I also wonder if Dave was using with Taylor.
I assumed this from day one; hence, Dave hasn’t been at these tributes.
Hadn’t even thought about the possibility. Grim.

Upsetting to think about. Addiction is pretty horrific- ultimately Taylor nearly died 20 years prior and if it was drugs (which is pretty much confirmed at this point) we are talking about a guy who had a wife, three kids and was in pretty much in the biggest, most successful rock band out there. It’s crazy to me that he had TEN different drugs in his system and I suspect during the lockdown he unraveled.

Jeez…

I had a similar thought when Perry and Etty dropped a tribute video featuring his last voicemail to Perry.

Seemed fucked up at the time…

Ugh

....maybe Dave AND Perry used w/Taylor; and were blackballed from having anything to do with the show...?

To me; that makes the most sense.
But, the question still remains about what's up w/Dave.

It's like a sewing circle here,.......

.you guys bring up some good points

Perry pissed of DG with that last voicemail from hawkins and or something else

It was a messed up thing to do, but Perry wasn't thinking right or just isn't right in the head ....not sure which .

Either way a likable guy died and theres defiantly hard feelings amongst the elite.

It's all pretty sad

Not sure how Dave factors into the whole thing but hopefully he can pull himself out of the funk

I last saw the OG line up in 2009. I felt nostalgic, but underwhelmed. I actually prefer Pete on guitar at this point. Nothing against Dave at all, but I am beyond tired of this corpse being flogged. Eric there and Pete would change things up enough to make it worth my time. Otherwise, I’ll just wait for the news songs to come out sometime.

Pete plays completely different guitar than Dave..Pete plays Hippie style ..Suspended Chords with lotz of wah wah ,violin bows, and drones..Middle eastern dirge..Atleast his more electrified stuff is? ..And..Simplistic Hippie acoustic style leanings..Dave also plays very psychedelic 60s stuff at times.. But he is also a child of the Van Halen era, Learned all the yngwie sweeps and is way more busy in how he plays..Way more complicated and accomplished at his approach to his instrument than Pete is..Although Dave too is very atmospheric and knows how to lay back and play simple.. Create space and let a song breathe.. .Both wonderful in their own ways but very different abilities, and approach at it..I don’t think Pete could replicate the flash and fretboard dexterity of Navarro if he tried? ..And he would probably be the first person to tell you he couldn’t? ♥️

Reading back on this thread and all the speculation how Taylor’s Drug use and overdose affected any dynamic in Jane’s is silly!! ..These guys hang out regularly with people on and off that train!! They realize it’s a personal choice Taylor made? ..I doubt anyone feels responsible for his death whether they got high with him or not? ..This ain’t their first time at that rodeo nor will it be their last!! ☮️

This is accurate. Pete couldn’t technically replicate all of Dave’s parts, but he could “feel” through them in his style. Anyone can play pentatonic minor with occasional and Mixolydian or Dorian accents, Pete included. But that early VH training makes Dave a race car compared to Pete’s comfortable family sedan.

It’s not silly whatsoever. People from the Jane’s camp were obviously close with Taylor Hawkins on some level. Dave was in a band with him; Perry recorded with him. The guilt alone that they could’ve potentially done something/intervened is hardly an unrealistic assumption. You make it sound like they just shrug their shoulders when a peer dies and say to themselves, “Yeah man, that’s just rock n roll!” :eyes:

I know very little about the technical side of guitar playing, but these comments about Pete seem absurd to me. Speaking strictly as a listener and not a player, I would guess that Pete is the more skilled player. And that's not a knock on Dave. Pete just seems to be able to do anything, where as Dave can only play like Dave.

One theory I have is that Taylor relapsed during lockdown before NHC started recording. I have several friends with substance abuse issues who completely unraveled since they had nothing to do and nowhere to go. Its pretty amazing he was able to hide whatever he was doing from his family

I feel like if Dave had something to do with it, his band mates would not be supportive of him stepping back, especially Eric

When you have a guitar player like Pete, why would you want to see him replicate Dave’s playing anyway? I think it would be cool to hear some Jane’s get “Porno-fied”.

Yeah, that’s what it would be and I think it could be cool. But it’s not what I personally want.

This Perry quote from RS article:
He continues: “I wish I could have waited longer for Dave. Maybe he will call me in a week and say, 'I'm good to go.' And what could happen is, he could just slide right next to Troy. "
Troy is there cause Dave is out, when Dave is ok, Troy is out.

Or I missed something.

I'm sure there is some contractual agreement with him at this point for the tour.

I don’t see Eric playing with this band beyond the current tour, unless Dave’s return is imminent.
