In light of recent developments

18:45. I remember seeing this live last year and being kind of taken aback by this. I don’t think they are totally kidding. Wonder if he decided to leave earlier this year and if that was what opened up space to have a dialogue with Eric.

Re: In light of recent developments
For the life of me, I will NEVER understand how Chris Chaney wound up in Jane’s Addiction. He seems like the total antithesis of everything about the band. Totally boring and pedestrian. While the band would never be the same without Eric, I would’ve been fine with a new album featuring Flea or Martyn on bass. But Chris Chaney’s inclusion is utterly baffling (I’m not saying his appeal is baffling because I’ve yet to talk to anyone who finds him appealing).
Re: In light of recent developments
It's funny you mentioned Chris Chaney because with all this talk about Eric is back I'm wondering where does Chris fit in.
Re: In light of recent developments
Chris Chaney is the Josh Freese of bass.
Maybe he has hard feelings on his end, but he still has plenty of high profile opportunities coming his way.
This also has to be somewhat recent- it seemed to me he was poised to play Lolla until Porno stepped in

Re: In light of recent developments
I'm not sure I would put Chris's talent level that high but I see your point.
Re: In light of recent developments
His appeal is surely to Perry who probably finds Chaney to be compliant. He's also clean-living so Dave probably likes the fact that he's not in a band with a fellow addict who could lead him astray.Tyler Durden wrote: ↑Wed Aug 24, 2022 9:06 pmFor the life of me, I will NEVER understand how Chris Chaney wound up in Jane’s Addiction. I’ve definitely considered those aspects before. But I find it hard to believe they can’t find someone with those traits while being more inspiring/interesting. That’s a high price to pay, creatively; the art suffers.

Seeing Martyn in Jame's in 01 was great. He fit right in and I thought he was badass on stage. Chaney w/ them is like watching a Jane's Fembot.
