Okay, fair enough. But it would be stephen, troy, Perry and insert random bass player at this point.

Cowards. They know the hardcore fans blowing mortgage payments on this are a negligible percentage of people going. It’s totally antithetical to everything ea (and likely perk) have ever stood for. Fuck em in the ass with the empire’s state building.

Maybe the Pumpkins are putting a gag order on them because they know if they make an announcement they will lose money with all the refunds. It sounds like a majority of people were coming out for Janes. Pumpkins alone can’t fill arenas

Unless they’re in breach. Then they’d stay silent while the attorneys work

...& if you notice; SP did not retweet JA's cancel notice yesterday... perhaps JA camp posted this w/o SP's notice; and now they have to be silent to not give out refunds so that Billy & co. can make more $$$.
If they cancel Montreal; I'm going to go to the venue and demand a refund; this is all bullshit; regardless of what the fuck is really going on.

It seems odd that this sort of scenario would not be in the fine print of a contract and how it would be handled. Or maybe it is and that’s the problem.

Anyone thinking that Jane’s draws a bigger audience than Smashing Pumpkins must’ve forgotten how huge SP were in the 90s; they were MASSIVE.

Any chance the injury is a smokescreen?

My favorite least likely scenerio is Billy booted them off the tour for some weird Billy Corgan reason?

Maybe somebody from the Jane’s crew was shooting up with Jimmy Chamberlain and the current SP keyboard player.

Maybe it's just covid and management thought it would be better to say an injury. They can't really go in to detail about an injury that didn't happen. The silence is still strange.

I was thinking about this…

The wording is really specific to include “physical injury”, I bet that’s being said because that’s an allowable reason to cancel performances within the contract. Despite what may actually be happening.,

Maybe this is all legit, but when there’s no communication you start looking around and you don’t see anyone from SP camp wishing whoever is injured to get better.

All I know is I hope this doesn’t jeopardize Eric and new music.

The whole thing is super WEIRD.

1) Jane’s isn’t handling this appropriately with the fans in mind. Initial announcement was super vague and then they didn’t even cancel Saturday’s show with an official announcement for the public.

2) Not a word from Smashing Pumpkins. Nothing appearing on any of their social media. And the band has made no statements from the stage about the situation; not even a “get well soon”.

3) No Jane’s Addiction merchandise was sold at either of the two shows that Jane’s has not played (so far?).

Nothing about this looks promising. If the band is off the tour, letting fans know would the professional/right thing to do.

If it’s Covid related, why wouldn’t they say that it’s Covid? I don’t think I’ve ever seen/heard an artist going with this approach for Covid. Maybe this is the approach as to not scare away people from coming to the shows and taking away from the headliner…but if so, it’s not doing any favours for the Jane’s Addiction brand.

They didn't even cancel, they just didn't show up. That's worse.

They sold the tour with original lineup knowing Dave was not involved.
Now they don't even play, they fear of lost $$$ of refunds. They hope people go anyway and see SP show.

Tomorrow night Janes are to play in Toronto, I want to see how long this gang of crooks will stay without make any comments :pop:

I had tickets for Toronto. Thankfully, I had the foresight to sell them a couple of weeks ago.

No surprise, but people are saying venue personnel in Pittsburgh said Jane's is off the tour entirely.

I've never seen Pumpkins, and my tickets were cheap, so I'll probably go watch some of their set. Several friends and my 14 year old were all going just to see Jane's for the first time though and bought tickets because they were excited to see them with me. They'll be more disappointed than I am.

So if Jane’s is off the tour…I wonder if it’s a problem within the band…or is it a problem between the two bands?

Woah

Scenarios/thoughts I could believe.

If they are off the tour entirely I can see it being something between the bands ( if that’s the case I wonder when or if we’ll get the real scoop )

Billy Corgan is insane. I’ve read a lot of the Reddit but seems general conscience is that Jane’s is sorta killing it. SP are playing a bunch of new awful stuff and are sorta phoning it in.

Maybe there’s legit beef between bands. Could be financial? The use of “personal injury” is super weird and sounds legal.

Which leads me to wonder — was there an altercation between people either within band or with band and SP crew. Pumpkins seem to be traveling with wrestlers so…anything weird is possible.

It’s a legit serious injury. Though lack of transparency seems to dispel this?

It’s something worse ( drugs ? )

I have to assume it’s a Perry/Etty thing — anyone else and they could bring in a ringer. Like If it was Steve, Perry and Troy and or Eric could do acoustic stuff.

The weird communication wise feels on brand for Perry though

Perry and Eric seemed genuinely happy to be with ea h other at MSG. So seems doubtful it’s that.

That’s my rambling thought dump.

Wild.
