Smaller venues with Janes headlining with mostly Janes fans. Same lineup would be amazing. Dave would be a dream. But show must go on. Perry’s vocals and echo are spot on and Eric and Perk are alive and just rumble through you. Guitar player is raw sounding. I would love to see Dave again or with 2 guitars like people are seeing now for some songs. Tour the 3 (hopefully bad ass) songs and work on new ones while touring together.

My only complaint this tour would be the SP fans (drunk group) talking shit about Perry’s banter or the married lady next to me hitting on me.
I was too busy going fucking bananas during Jane's set to have any care about the SP fans around me. Then again, I'm a SP fan. Just not for anything released in the past 25+ years.

I enjoyed seeing Zwan more.
Did you see zwan at the blue note in april 2002? That show was great. They wrote like 3-4 albums worth of material but then put out the turd that was mary star in 03.

Glorious was a great tune that just disappeared like so many other of the set they were playing in late 01.

I digress.
I did not see them at the blue note, but at the pageant shortly thereafter.

Chrysanthemum kicks ass too. It’s almost as if he went “whoa I wrote a good song? Nah, gotta write a shitty one instead” and that’s how the Zwan record was made. He could’ve made up for it with the acoustic record that he canned.

By the way, the first part of the new pumpkins record came out the other day and it is straight up unlistenable goofy clown shit music. Billy has completely lost it creatively.

Yea chrysanthemum rocked. I agree that it felt like he was purposely trying to ditch the winning formula that was pumpkins songwriting > april 2002 songs. A new poetry was another beautiful tune.

I have not yet listened to the new one (part 1) but the reviews i have read are that BC has lost his fucking mind… which was evident long ago.

For anyone interested, i think those early zwan shows are on archive.org. Nov 2001 and april 2002 shows were pretty damn great.

The EA side of he stage has always been empty, to lesser or greater extents, for me - when he's not been there.

Of course, I wanted Dave there last night - did it feel empty without him? It's bizarre to say, no - because they were that fucking good. So if they can keep this up, it must go on.

I do feel like it would be a nail in the coffin if Navarro doesn't turn up on stage on the Hollywood show. Even if we were to give every benefit of the doubt on the long Covid thing (which is already a joke at this point) - there's no reason why he can't sit on the corner of the stage and watch his band play. not when he's consistently doing whatever the fuck he posts on IG. There's no reason why he can't strap on a guitar for one song and play with them - they have a second guitarist FFS, why not have that be for four minutes on Stop! or whatever. I hope I'm wrong - it just feels like the lead up to the tour when it was clear that he was not going to be on this tour, then they finally came clean-ish. I think the last show will be quite telling.

EA - "keeper of the flame" indeed. There is no way we'd have had "Kettle Whistle", 'Then She Did", or "1%" with the old regime.

I would be surprised if they do a headlining tour.

Most likely they will do festivals :noclue:

I like the idea of a series of residencies at smaller venues under 2000 capacity. Less travel for the band would cut down on some travel and tour expenses. Also, the band would be better rested between performances since they wouldn't have to spend time travelling as much. A few nights in Vegas, NYC, Chicago, etc.. :noclue:

If Dave couldn't even join them in Anaheim I can't imagine he'll join them at all or anytime ever again?

If he doesn’t show up even just to watch the LA show, I’m fully prepared for the inverse Strays lineup to have its time in the sun. If nothing else, there should be a chapter of the band where Perry and Eric make new music together again.

Obviously would prefer to have all four of them, but this band has burned me before and everything besides the Dave thing has been so awesome that I’m willing to just let it go the way it’s gonna go.

I’m fully prepared for a Jane’s 3.0 era where Dave isn’t a part of things. It’s depressing to think of but this tour has blown me away the chemistry Perry and Eric have right now is off the charts

I was blown away. Part of that may have been the sheer fact that I was seeing the four of them onstage together playing those songs directly in front of me from the pit. Setlist was pretty great too imo (3 Days, Then She Did, and Summertime Rolls in the same night + Had a Dad).

Watching the vids with Josh; I think he's a better fit than Troy. His playing sounds more fluid like Dave's.

i don't think his stage antics fit the band. the jumping around and playing on your knees doesn't work for me.

God knows their fill in players usually just stand there like mannequins.

I'm good with it. It's not like Dave doesn't have any "rock god" antics while performing.

I still really hope we get new songs/album with the original 4.

If they do that and still tour with Troy/Josh that would be a win

Is there even a decent market for yet another janes headliner tour?

But this time featuring the return of Eric Avery? Only a couple dozen people in each city would be specifically drawn for that.

Sure they could do a club tour with a fair amount of interest and passion from the band if they were inclined. That would be great, but not much money there... :noclue:

Apparently Morrissey ended a show very abruptly there last week because he was too cold, so maybe Perry is legitimately trying to warn people haha

I'm at Phoenix.

Fire Dave. Hire TVL and Klinghoffer.

That was the best Jane's show I've seen.

They NEED 2 guitar players and have for a long time but this solidified it for me.
