History of Jane's opening acts

So a couple of artists are opening for Jane's on this upcoming tour...L.A. Witch and Damnage. This got me thinking about artists who've opened for them in the past. Pixies opened for them on the Ritual tour. I think Goldie may have opened for them on the Relapse tour (I never saw that tour; it didn't come to Toronto). I saw the Strays tour but can't remember for the life of me who opened for them; same goes for the Theatre of Escapists tour. Obviously, it's easy to recall the lineups of Lolla '91 and NIN/JA.

Just wondering if people have memory of any Jane's tours' opening acts.

Die Antwood in Brooklyn, it was a Chaney on bass show, don’t remember year. Rasputina opened for Porno in 96 or 97 at either Irving or Roseland, they were unique and had just released their first album “thanks for the ether”, still listen to a song or two from that album.

Street Sweeper in 09 was okay… I guess it was cool Tom Morello was part of the tour.

Live opened for them in 2001, and didn’t Courtney Love do a few dates that tour?

I forget who opened for them around 2000 they were pretty weak. I think it was the band Live.

I saw the Flaming Lips open for Porno for Pyros in 1993 and they were amazing! I had little clue who they were at the time. Who would’ve thought they’d be headlong festivals these days and their music would be in car commercials?

If I remember correctly, Perry wanted them because their song Overcome had become a bit of a 9/11 catharsis song for some.

Story of the Year opened in KC in 2003.

Someone held up a sign that said “Jane Says Get Off The Stage” and their guitar player spit on him and they threw a fit and ended their set then it shortly thereafter. It was pretty funny. It blows my mind and makes me feel super old that that was 20 years ago.

One of the dime a dozen two piece blues rock bands opened in 2009 in STL.

Big Black Delta (a favorite band of mine) also opened a few shows on that tour as I recall.

Stereo MCs in 2001 was super cool. Opened for them in San Diego. Their beats were magic brought a great party vibe.

Probably because I caught her handkerchief she tossed out that had some lipstick kisses and her autograph on it.

I didn't enjoy it as much a few days later being stuck way up in the seats at the Warfield.

For some of their London Shows (apart from the 2003 Strays tour which had the 2 same support bands who were quite cool), they have often not had a support band or just found a band on the same day to play before them.

I'm so sorry. A very weird time for rock music. I'll never understand how Deftones gained traction...I think they're korny (sorry) as fuck; just awful.

Comparing Deftones to Korn and other shitty nu metal is like comparing GnR to Warrant. There’s a reason White Pony is considered by many to be a near masterpiece of an album. Frankly, I prefer Around the Fur, but that’s neither here nor there. Their latest album is also quite strong.

One of the best concerts I ever saw was Deftones on the Around the Fur tour with Snapcase opening. Who are a fucking powerhouse of hardcore in their own right.

I saw them open up for All Them Witches last year in Montreal...
They were ok; nothing crazy; kinda mellow from what I remember---with, like they say on their twitter, dripping reverb--think warpaint but a little more rock-ish. I do remember the bass player doing the 'bored to be up here' routine.

2003 was a terrible year for alt rock in general. Love Deftones but self titled is by far their weakest (also a 2003 record)

The fact that Thursday, Thrice, Smile Empty Soul, and Story of the Year shared the same stage as Janes pretty much sums up the Strays era for me

Yep, I was at the Story of the Year show as well. Those were both within a few days of each other now that I think of it. Only 20 years ago, sigh where did the time go? I saw the Jubilee tour, which was Live and Stereo M.C.'s. Then the 2003 Lolla tour. Then NINJA of course. Didn't see Streetsweeper Social Club or whatever it was since they didn't play Vegas and don't recall them playing Sasquatch Festival, or if they did, I didn't see them.

For clarities sake, those were all radio station holiday shows. It is unlikely Janes had any input on the lineup.
