I'm very sceptical that they can produce new music that's in the same spirit (never mind quality) as the 1.0 material, given the wildly different circumstances that any new music is being created in. New songs could be
respectable but could they be
great? I doubt it but would be delighted to be proven wrong!
I feel like Porno for Pyros has a better chance because the bar isn't quite as high (in my eyes) and the hippy-surfer-kooky vibe is still present in Perry and Pete, so any new music has a better chance of feeling consistent in tone with the older stuff
Same here.
I think since the Porno songs were written back then they could more likely reproduce what I love about their music when Perry was 1.0. They could fuck it up and record something I will never listen to more than once, hope not.
I hope that since Martyn is back in it will more likely be better than it would be without him. Perry can still sound good live but that doesn't carry over to his studio recorded music he wimps out _ probably because he records his vocals at home studio and Etty is there causing his pipes to weaken= octave to low and no aggression like 1.0 Perry had.
I do not like any Perry 2.0 related music. Strays, Satellite Party, Kind Heaven all that is bad music from 2.0 Perry. All of it. Almost as bad as Panic Channel.

Hard Charger has everything I like about Janes_Porno. The closer Perry gets to the Hard Charger vibe, vocals_music the more I want to listen. Love that song. The farther Perry "strays" from Hard Charger styled songwriting the worse he gets.

Bakersfield looks like it's about half-sold, with a stack of secondary tickets listed for around $10. Somewhat sad, not in the least bit surprising. The capacity in that room seems to be 3,000.

Been there before - it’s a pretty big venue, especially for Jane’s. Or as one of my teenage boys put it: a band that hasn’t had a hit in over 30 years
They should have booked the Fox Theater - much better and more intimate venue.

Technically "Just Because" was a minor hit in 2003, which was... 20 fucking years ago.

I had my days mixed up. Thought the show was tonight and was starting to get excited at the possibility of hearing new music. Guess I can wait a day

that pile of booze behind perry has me skeptical that anything beyond a couple good basslines will come of this new album .. maybe pete can fight for some quality control at the end of the day but perrys bullshit i am certain leaves any bandmate completely powerless comepared to say .. ettys opinion .. which means perry will whisper all his vocals like nora jones and perk will be asked to play more like a drum machine and the production will sound like douche rawk like the last 2 albums of glossy vomit .. if they ever perform without "back up singers" (ROFL) i will maybe regain hope of some sort .. all signs currently point toward EVEN WORSE

I hear ya with the back up singers. That's not something I can ever get used to. Perry should shut their mic off without telling them.

Must be "True Love" - the song mentioned in the Variety article back in Sept

Sounds like a Madonna cover.
Odd choice to play it as the last song

My impatience continues to define me
I’m checking YouTube and Xiola.org every hour for this show.

Perry sounds raspy
But I like the song, def built around the bass line and the guitar parts feel very very Josh. Lots of reverb.
I was nervous with the title, but it’s a very simple sweet song.

I like it at first pass. I really like Eric's hook throughout the song. The guitar work is very Josh, and I wouldn't be surprised at all if we hear him in the final version on tape.
I didn't find it cringey and liked Perry's delivery. It sounded and felt sincere, for lack of better words.
Will be interesting to see how it evolves over the shows.
