Trip Away from Bakersfield

Josh is killing it in this. Seems they extended the middle part on the fly.

Again this version is so loose and fun.

Perry is really just in the zone these days. Feeling the melodies and the hitting notes… even where he doesn’t, his substitutions are solid.

Amazing front row footage from Rialto. What's Eric saying at the beginning? He also is dancing during the intro of Ted and just having a great time

Josh is just killing it too

fuck if Dave were there man...that's all I think...it'd be enough moving parts, even diminished...this band can't help but be who it is..messy

Perry is fucking crushing it. Looks great, sounds great, is super into it. Also makes me very happy to see the genuine camaraderie with Eric.

I was at Bakersfield and just got home from Palladium. Palladium setlist:

Up the Beach
Whores
Had a Dad
Ain’t no right
Ocean size
Then She did
Obvious
Ted, Just Admit it..
Chip Away
Kettle whistle
One percent
3 Days
Mountain Song
Been Caught Stealing

Encore:
True Love
Jane Says
Stop

I loved this show. (I also loved Bakersfield). Seeing them at the Palladium brings back all the feels from having been in the room during the Birkenstock incident which I believe is officially back in the 1.0 Day. I'd say tonight may have been the most Jane's Addictioniest I've seen them in a long time...Perry's vocals are spot on bringing life to the old songs. (although I find the reggae-ish Jane Says to be a distraction)

Josh is bringing the spirit of the band. It's messy, but in a way so are the vocals relative to the studio versions which is what makes the live show stand out over the recordings. (Maybe "over" isn't the right word...differentiates.)

So much good energy tonight,

P.S. I liked True Love tonight a lot better than Bakersfield. A little because it was more familiar, but I think the guitar was a bit more fleshed out, trippy and atmospheric which added a whole damned thing to it.

Palladium was fucking stunning. I didn't comment on the Bakersfield gig as I was a little underwhelmed - they just didn't have the same umph they had in November. But.Tonight. Fuck. Fantastic. Perry was on a whole other level compared to Bakersfield. He was fluid and sounded so much better.

A portion of the difference between the shows may be down to the audience - Bakersfield was half full and a shit crowd. Palladium almost had a sense of occasion to it.

Trip Away and Pigs in Zen were dropped. Obvious and 1% added. Loved it. The rest of the set was the same.

Gutted to have to miss out on Reno....snow storm.

Good move - didn't even occur to me that there would be takers.
I assume the drive isn't even feasible; I'd do it if the roads were open.
Next tour....

Loving the clips (cheers PB) and really enjoying this new lease of life they’ve got with E’s return. Don’t get the knocking of Josh, I think he’s awesome up there being himself. If Dave ever actually wants back in, I’d quite like him there as well as, rather than replacing… band would work as a five.

Whatever happens, this shit is exciting again.
