I worry that if Dave does come back, (which he will not, he’s done) but if he does, it will just go back to sounding average at best. The best being, a surprisingly good show with Cheney playing, or at worst, NINJA. I’ll be honest, I haven’t ever really considered any of the post 1991 shows, as JA shows at all. At best, they’ve been good, sporadically. Sacramento 1997, was great. 2001 Mountain View was good, 2003 Lolla was cool, and surprisingly enough, the TGEA show, in Clearwater, was great. The rest I’ve seen, have been ok enough, sometimes, to really bad other times. Basically, I’ve been saying “This is the last time…” since like 2001. I totally wasn’t going to go to see the SP tour, just thought it would be more of the same, and I can’t stomach SP, to begin with. What made me go more than Eric being back, was that DN was not there. It was just a new element, a curiosity. And EA seemed really into the idea, actually…. And they are my favorite band, so it’s a hard habit to break….

Damn… that show was, without any question, the best show I have seen them do since 1991. That’s a fact. And I love TVL to begin with, so while different and chunky, and a little sloppy, it felt like JA, for the first time, since they were an actual band. Klinghoffer played on like 3-4 songs then, the 5 piece was wild!!!!🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼

That coupled with the PFP show I saw in LA, I am genuinely excited again about them… Eric is happy, it rocked, they were all good! So I have the Palladium show coming up, I guess just with Klinghoffer. I’m stoked. I think I would be less so, if DN were just playing, oddly enough. He hasn’t been into it since what 2001? And you can tell, note perfect or not. I’m in, so yeah, It’s a great and interesting time to be a JA fan again, I think.
I liked hearing JA with 2 guitars Troy and Josh, with Troy playing the atmospheric parts. Liked the atmosphere Troy did on Jane says. .

This. It sounded great!
Didn't listen to Jane Says too much but when I heard the atmospheric guitar Troy added, I keep going back to listen to the 2022 shows with him playing it.
Troy's part turns the mood and made it a lot more interesting listen.

The show I liked most was with Troy and Daniel Ash.
Daniel Ash is playing Jane Says next to Perry and at 1:53 Troy's cool atmospheric part comes in, Daniel, surprised, liked what he heard and looks over at Troy and Danny was into it. That was the most entertaining JA show I've seen since Relapse. Troys guitar sounds great, comes in and leaves at the right times during the song. Fits JA well.

I hope they bring Troy back and use some of their stage energy to write new material while they're on the road and in rehearsals. I think the energy is lost when they get home and try to write.

I wonder if there is any material from the last two albums that Eric actually likes, and they would consider redoing with his input.

I doubt he likes anything off strays but i bet he was pleasantly surprised with some of the songs on TGEA- you know he totally listened.

It wouldn’t surprise me either if some of the material they worked on in 09 made it on TGEA too. I found an interview where he was asked about that and he sort of side stepped the question

Why would they re-do pre existing/recorded songs?... espically from those wilderness years (no thanks)

I think there is a heavy possibility they'll record Kettle Whistle as it was originally conceived though, which is fine by me - as I always loved it.

I'd like completely new songs

Bauhaus is one of those bands that ABSOLUTELY does need all four members. The Misfits are another one, drummer aside, so I guess that’s false, actually. Definitely Bauhaus though, yes.
That statement couldn’t be any more WRONG.
Depends on what you want out of a band? The Misfits have had way more members than JA, so I guess I was thinking of “classic” lineups. As you know, JA classic lineup is not the original one either. But the Misfits? Sure I wasn’t there to see them with Manny, Diane, Jim, Franche, Jimi, Rick, Joey, Googy, and sure I am missing a couple of people. I would have given anything to see the Glenn, Jerry, Bobby, Jim lineup, but I am talking about the classic lineup, Jerry, Glenn, Doyle, (and Robo, but…). So drummer aside, because Lombardo is great with them. I don’t know? Did you like all the 90s and beyond lineups? Were they the Misfits to you? All those scabs? Graves, Zoli, Hideous, Dez, yeah Robo did come back, but it was too little too late, Jerry Other, and then Only singing? Please! They need their classic lineup.
Fuck Jerry Only. Glenn Danzig was/is the Misfits. Everybody else was replaceable. Jerry was not a good bass player and Doyle could barely play guitar; the majority of guitarwork on Walk Among Us was multi-tracks by Glenn.

Danzig wrote ALL of their songs (barring a cover); he was basically like Trent Reznor with NIN or to a munitely lesser extent, like Kurt Cobain with Nirvana.

I think you could rework Irresistible Force

Play main the guitar part as a baseline —

Start song with bass and have the guitar play something close to what we the bassline is.

so it almost like a slow “mountain song” vibe where bass and guitar are playing same pattern

Then do the chorus the same

Keep the solo cause it’s awesome

Probably- I’d rather hear the full version from 09- those 10 seconds were promising

While it cool from a nostalgia point of view…

I’ve seen reunited a misfits and I’ve seen Danzig do misfits sets

All you really need is Danzig

I saw both ways a few times. I suppose you are right? But how people feel about JA, here, including myself, I also feel that way about The Misfits. Are we all not nostalgia whores?😂

Yeah if they asked Eric to redo Price I Pay he'd probably throw his bass through the fucking window.

...what about "End To the Lies"...?
...totally about Eric. Remember the whole 'real head; foreskin...' thing...?
...no way Eric would do this live.
They will stick with everything w/Ritual & before.
...and hopefully NEW MUSIC!!!

Could you imagine being Eric standing rright to the left of Perry while he's singing "when was the last time, you did anything".
Rumour has it... It was about Dave no?
That line could also refer to Perkins, not only Dave. Perkins can sound good live and some of his solo rhythms are phenomenal. www.youtube.com/watch?v=12DRlJ81ngo .
He can come up with good stuff when he wants to. Getting him to do play anything phenomenal like that on a JA record hasn't been possible for 2.0 Perkins.

He can do what the songs dictate. If they all sound like Superhero, and shit like that, which they did, then….?

When Jane's broke up back in 1991 and reunited to record Strays, Perry said something like what i've noticed afrer all these years apart is how much better musicians they are now. I'm sure it's true but they never seemed to showcase Perkins talent.

Does Banyan gig anymore? That seemed like the last avenue where modern-day Perk got the chance to stretch out. Would love to hear him make interesting choices and take more chances on new Jane's songs. (oh, and new P4P too, of course)

They did some stuff last year but prior to they hadn’t done anything in close to decade I think

They were better musicians before Strays than after in my opinion. Each thing they've done gets worse. Where's all the cool fills and percussive pieces Perk used to play? Perkins was at the top of his playing ability with PfP Packin25. Nothing on Strays or TGEA comes close.
