Starting up soon- nothing of note and no mention of new music, but still cool that the three of them do interviews together

Strange. I've been seeing the World is a Vampire Concert advertised heavily on Facebook and it doesn't include Jane's. It's STP and some other band. Maybe that's for future stateside dates. And what daughter is Perry taking to Amyl and the Sniffers?

Good interview- new full length album confirmed and some insight as to why nothing new was played in SA

I get the sense P4P isn’t as much of a priority now

I either never knew or forgot that Eric tried writing with the Smashing Pumpkins, that was pretty interesting to hear. His response was also great about why it ended, won't spoil it for anyone who hasn't watched yet.

Perry knows Eric ventured into provocative territory there lol

Another good interview and confirmation the goal is a new full album.

I think one of my favorite parts of the more recent interviews is how the three of them will break off and have mini conversations with each other during the interview. I think it truly shows where they're at, and it's fun to see them chatting (a few times continuing off an earlier conversation they'd been having that day).

Perry's reaction gave me a chuckle too.

Stoked they’re doing a full record- it sounds like they haven’t written anything since last summer. If that’s the case, perfect opportunity for Dave to join up when the tour is done

New interview with Perry and Eric on the vinyl guide podcast. Worth an entire listen. They are determined to make a full album with the “original team.” Not sure if that refers to the Perry/Eric tandem or the full lineup.

Surreal to hear an interview like this with the two of them.

Also Inger Lorre is brought up but not by name

they hint that it’s going to be with Dave later on too, but it’s still kind of unclear.

Eric also says that Imminent Redemption is better than Embrace the Darkness

New Rolling Stone Australia interview with Perry, Eric, Stephen

https://au.rollingstone.com/music/music ... iew-46452/

Perry confirms they've been keeping in communication with Dave and hope to meet up with him once they get back from Australia.

Another good interview worth reading.

“I spoke to Dave about two days ago, he is doing fine,” Jane’s Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell says. “He’s feeling better, and we are going to be seeing each other in a month’s time, when we get back from Australia.”
This feels much different than when he was asked about Dave previously. Especially that one TV interview where he seemed very concerned.

I think it’s obvious Dave is in or has completed rehab and is in discussions to rejoin the band again. Hopefully we get a triumphant return performance of the original band this year.

Last month he said Josh was going to play on the songs. Now it sounds like the 4 of them plus guest spots? That’s a great development. Although, not so sure I want guests on the true follow up to Ritual, but I’ll take what I can get :thumb:

Eric didn’t play bass on one Ritual track. :noclue:

I hear you though. I would hope to have Dave as the primary contributor at minimum. I guess we’ll see. It may already be too late.

So they’re talking to Dave but Perry wants Troy and Josh playing guitar? I have to imagine once Dave gets involved fully he’ll change his mind about that

It seems to me the material isn’t fully fleshed out yet so there’s a golden opportunity for the original lineup to really get going creatively

I read it more like he wants them to guest on the album, probably because they’ve been around the band so much lately and it’s a “all friends get to chip in” kind of thing.

If Dave is ready to play and be creative — I’m sure you SAY you want everyone involved but the reality of how things shake out could be different.

I wouldn’t mind some guest spots — I just want the original 4 creating again.

It’s…it’s all so promising

Daniel Ash is also mentioned in the RS interview. Having DN back, with Daniel, Troy and Josh all working in the studio adding different guitar parts making it better. If this happens with all of those guys Perry mentioned...Well now I am really interested.

They must have been writing a lot on this tour. Last year they only had 3-4 songs ready.

Perry never struck me as the kind of guy who wants to share a piece of the pie with 4 different guitarists.

I'm sure Daniel, Troy, and Josh would just get paid the studio musician going rate.

Dave, with an ownership stake in "Jane's Addiction, Inc." would be the only one getting residuals, if such a thing even exists.

Perry has got it going with this. To have each guy play what they are best at. I can see Josh adding the punk/funky/surf rhythms and solos.

Daniel may be adding some effects, noises, atmospherics and possibly slice of life type acoustic parts.

Troy would be for the backing atmospheric tones, Velvet Underground-influenced sections, and taking the songs in a more interesting direction than they would normally go. Troy would also be great as co producer.

Dave is best at the Zeppelin influenced rhythms, acoustics and solos.

This guy has it all figured out. Forget about trying to bring Dave Jerden back.
